scg, it was the $10.00 eggs my daughter got on e-bay. They're suppose to be Black Australorps, and may well be. They have the characteristics of being BA's, but not overly strong characteristics like the ones I hatch from my own stock. They may be mixed, or not even BA's at all, which will become apparent when they get older. 1. They were not nearly as big as the ones from my hens. I figured that was due to them being hatchery stock. 2. The shape of the head is different. I wrote that off to the line they're from. 3. The down/feather quality is different. I attribute that to poor quality parent stock. That's ok. I'm still going to do my best for them and see what they turn into.

Remember awhile back, I said Dh didn't really have his toilet fixed? Well, he was up at 7:30 am with the wet vac, cleaning up the water that had overflowed from the septic, via the walk in showers, into the hallway, and bedrooms. He was fussing up a storm, and I was ignoring him. I don't feel sorry for him one bit. 1. He should have listened to me to begin with, instead of mocking me. 2. Later, I have to clean, and disinfect all the floors where the nasty water overflowed. Nope, I don't feel one bit sorry for him, or inclined to be helpful to him. In fact, I got in an "I told ya so". He asked me to please get the right part for his toilet, so it won't do this anymore.

@getaclue I don't know wether to laugh or cry for you concerning the toilet. I'm very lucky. My husband is a rare and priceless jewel who can do everything from fix the tractor to remove a foreign body from an eye without breaking a sweat. No worries here about doing it right. He is every inch a perfectionist (but then so am I) Maybe this experience will teach your DH a lesson about listening to advice. If you have any pics of your bald babies I'd love to see them.

@bruceha2000. I agree, ouch. I think you were very lucky though and your car held up surprisingly well considering the severity of the crash. I can't tell if your airbags deployed on it. But you are a very lucky man that you just suffered a whiplash. Hope that you are feeling better this morning. As for car shopping. Good job getting the lower price. We do that all the time when dealing with any large purchase.Usually it's something for the house that we will find on sale at Menard's. We will copy the ad page and take it to Home Depot and ask them if they can beat the sale price at Menard's and they usually do. Lot better quality at HD.

I'm still dealing with my psycho rooster and wobbly hen. He has taken up residence in the nesting box and the old broody followed him in. I caught her sitting on two eggs and took them away from her, and put her on the roost bar. I doubt if she stayed there and doubt if her equilibrium has improved. Told DH that I wasn't fooling with her any longer. She is very thin but eating well and there is something wrong with her neurologically. If she was sound I would break her again but she isn't. Looks like she is on the fast track to being put down. I'm going to try to get some pictures of the rooster's feet this morning. Just don't know what to do about him. Can't put him with the bantam roosters, they will kill him for sure. No other pen to put him in at the moment.

Yes, a leaky toilet on a septic tank spells disaster. Sorry that happened to your dh. I've had it happen. Fortunately the water found it's way to a floor a/c vent before it ruined very much flooring. Took forever to get all that water out of the ducts.

I had a valve let go on my toilet and flood the house once while I was away for the morning. Hard way to clean the carpet in the hall but shop vacs to the rescue!

Oh no!

I hate that stuff. We had a septic tank back up when we lived in the country. It took a couple of weeks to fix it too. We needed to add more leach lines and have the tank pumped

I put the chicks in something larger. They had outgrown the plastic storage container brooder. I have at least one that the toes have more recently curled sideways. No, they're not broken. No, they weren't curled like that the first week, and a half after hatching, so I think it's a bit late in the game to put a boot on it. No, the toes are not broken. Yes, they are eating good feed. Nutrena chick starter. I don't like their feather quality either. I've got one that has very little down, so it looks sort of bald, but it does have some of it's feathers trying to come in. Tomorrow, I'm going to mix some Mana Pro Gamebird/Showbird feed into their Chick starter feed. It's got a very high protein content, so boosting their protein may help. I'm not holding out any great hope for them though. They're just very poor quality birds.

Maybe the adults were not fed well or had issues.

Omg, how awful! It sure does pay to get things fixed properly! Of course it is your fault in husband logic. Sorry he screwed up and leaves you with the mess!

All he needs to do is put in a new flush handle/rod assembly. It's old, worn, and sticks. 3 nights in a row of it sticking, causing it to run full open for 8 hours, takes it's toll. It takes 2 minutes to change out. He's put in 2 new flush valve kits. I told him when he put in the second one, that wasn't his problem. He insulted me. I mentioned at the time that this was going to happen again. Again, he insulted me. He should not have insulted me. I posted on here that I would not help him until he began talking about replacing the whole toilet. Well, that time is now. When Dd gets back from class, we've got several places to go in town, so I will pick up the part, while we're out, and about. He's usually very good with mechanical things, car repairs, etc., and fantastic with electrical things. He's just not too good with plumbing type things, and it aggravates him.
