scg, it was the $10.00 eggs my daughter got on e-bay. They're suppose to be Black Australorps, and may well be. They have the characteristics of being BA's, but not overly strong characteristics like the ones I hatch from my own stock. They may be mixed, or not even BA's at all, which will become apparent when they get older. 1. They were not nearly as big as the ones from my hens. I figured that was due to them being hatchery stock. 2. The shape of the head is different. I wrote that off to the line they're from. 3. The down/feather quality is different. I attribute that to poor quality parent stock. That's ok. I'm still going to do my best for them and see what they turn into.
