The Old Folks Home

Ok if I hold down the part in the picture it doesn't leak sound.
Bf replaced that gasket and it is still leaking so I need to buy the whole thing?

Yes!

This one should work and not require tank removal

I have used this one before. The other kit replaces the whole thing and is a bit more work

Bf is going to shut the water off when he leaves. I still have 2 toilets left.
I'll YouTube it and see if it's within my pay grade. If not I'll call the plumber or wait for him to come back and call the plumber .
It's easy, don't pay the plumber. They usually charge an hour minimum at a high rate (to cover travel I guess) and a lower, but still lots of $$ per hour after.

I saw this on my FB feed.
Punk Dog!

Important life lessons from bachelor SCG:

Do not try to make rice pilaf in the microwave for 25 minutes while you do the outdoor chores.
That does sound very "batchelor". So, what did you have for dinner after that was "done"?

Never leave a micro wave or Kitchen aid mixer kneading bread un attended
Got any stories you want to tell Ron?

I have had the kitchen aid mixer walk off of the counter....Quite scary. The mixer was fine though

and maybe the one bf installed is still leaking because he didnt drain the tank and use sealant?
With just a flapper replacement, there is no sealant. The kit I posted seals a new bottom in the place where the old one is. Most likely, the bottom seal is cracked and worn out on your toilet

You have pretty old hardware there, I don't think they have put ball floats in toilets for decades. Doesn't mean they don't work though. Seems your problem is only the flush area not the fill. It is running (as you have figure out) because water is leaking out of the tank and into the toilet.

Don't usually use sealant, the gasket is held down by the plastic nut that is threaded around the fill tube. Maybe it just needs to be screwed down a bit tighter?

From the look of it, you might have one of these, I've not seen one before. I think it would have a nut on the underside of the tank, not shown here:

Can you see a plastic nut between the tank and the bowl? If so, can you tighten it while holding the part inside the toilet so it doesn't turn and lose the proper angle to the flush lever?

Yes!

I don't think that will work with what SGC has in her tank.
