The Old Folks Home

Sounds like a good idea freeze the dough no reason not too
It works out well for us. the dough lasts a month plus in the freezer without starting to taste old...of course it does not take that long to use it up!

Well good thing to do today snowed yesterday and all night might as well bake
We have some clouds left over this morning but that will likely be gone soon. We should have a period of sunny weather now

I went to the county fair with my cousin, and her friend that is down from Alabama. We had a wonderful time. While they were at one of the booths, across the aisle was something that caught my eye. They are called click warmers. They provide instant heat, and are reusable. They come in different sizes, for the neck, back, shoulders, and some small square ones to use as hand warmers, or for headache. Ok, the hand warmer thing is pretty cool, but my mind went elsewhere with it. These would probably be fantastic to put in an incubator, or brooder during a power outage. They go to 130 degrees, hot but not enough to burn, however a paper towel, or towel over it would be ideal. They stay hot for over an hour. For damp heat in an incubator setting, wrap it in a wet paper towel. The smaller squares come in multi-packs, so in an hour start a new one. That would provide quite a few hours of heat during a power outage. I will be getting a few of the larger ones. That will be good for Dh's back, but they would work perfect for a brooder, in the event of power failure. To reuse them, fill a pot with water, and put a paper towel, or wash cloth on the bottom of the pot, then set them on the paper towel or washcloth, so they don't come into direct contact with the bottom of the pot. Even in a power outage, after so many hours a grill, or fire can boil the water to recharge them.

Woke up to 3/4s inch of snow on the ground this morning, day after the last of the old snow finally melted off the ground. Shouldn't complain. I mean it isn't even an inch but it's white wet and cold. That in itself is enough reason to hate it. Plus this Sunday we Spring ahead. SPRING FOR GOODNESS SAKES! Grumble grumble.

Plus I have a dominate small rooster who has beat the dirt out of two roosters twice his size. Yeah, pretty funny unless you saw the two losers with their faces and heads swollen double and their eyes swollen shut. Not to mention all the feathers pulled off their necks and heads. At the moment I'm out of hospital pens. Luckily, rooster #1 is on day 4 and most of the swelling is down although one eye isn't open completely. Rooster 2 is just pathetic. He used to be really handsome and never fought with any of the other roosters yet alone one of the roos half his size. I brought him in this morning to soak his eye with warm water and didn't know whether to laugh or cry for him. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the winner is residing in a nesting box with only one eye swollen shut but still spunky enough to come out and take a run at rooster #2 when he saw me bring him into the coop after treatment. So I'm juggling a wounded rooster in one hand and dangling Mr. Feisty by his ankles to get his attention because if he can't fight with rooster #2, hey, he'll just peck at me (of course with only one good eye he isn't hitting much).

Geesh. In the meantime I keep pulling more roosters and putting them in the bachelor pen where they can cool their heels. Their testosterone flush in the spring just amazes me. They live together in peace in the coop all fall and winter only to try to kill one another in the spring. I told DH that it's the big reminder that these little creatures are just evolved dinosaurs that still fall back to survival and reproduction of the fittest.

Just woke up from a nap here. Didn't sleep well last night. Asleep by 1:30 awake at 4:30 up at 6:30. Popped two loaves of Amish white bread in the oven (just starting to smell it) Now trying to get motivated to do something. Anything. Just almost impossible to get enthused with winter digging it's heels in and refusing to go away.

I have uses regular had warmers when transporting chicks to a new home

I just received some cheese and some yards of fabric to make the cheesemaker some pillowcases.

I do love a good barter.

I know some of you guys have enjoyed my pharmacy hump day questions - I had (in my opinion) a good one last week that some of you may find interesting. It's a situational:
A guy comes to the pharmacy and talks to you. He says his hands have been really dry lately and he's been unable to get a good fingerprint to unlock his electronic devices, which has been really frustrating. He also says he's traveling to China in the next few weeks and is concerned about the intake process where travelers get fingerprinted. He's worried if he doesn't give a good fingerprint he might be detained. He's asking you for a very good cream that he can use to plump his dry hands back up.
You log into his med profile and see the following:
amlodipine 5 mg
Aspirin EC 81 mg
atorvastatin 20 mg
buspirone 5 mg
capecitabine 500 mg
lubriderm lotion
gabapentin 300 mg
lisinopril 10 mg
metformin 1000 mg
saxagliptin 2.5 mg
urea cream

What do you recommend and why?
