@ronott1 I am so sorry that you had to do that. Shame on them and bless you for helping out the wounded bird. I hope you have it safely in your care.
Trying to play catchup here while eating a dinner of salmon patties, onion rings and asparagus. Pudding for desert. The past month all I wanted to eat or that tasted good to me was home made bread. Suddenly bread doesn't taste good to me and onion rings are just to die for. Must be one of the medicines they put me on causing it but I told DH that this must be what it feels like to be pregnant and have the craves. His jaw dropped and I assured him that no, I wasn't pregnant. At almost 66 years of age the baby making store was out of business.
But man o man I could seriously plow my way through those carrot cookies. The big number is 117 when I stepped on the scale. I've lost a total of 31 pounds. None of my clothes fit and I'm having a ball shopping online for new ones. I weigh the same weight I did when I was 23 years old. And I lost half of it before the medications started. So sheer determination played a part in the loss.
Beautiful day here today. In the 50s. DH and I took off to the woods for an hour and walked. Lots of sunshine. Spring is finally trying to take over and by George, it is welcomed to do it!
Penny, better you than me answering the siren call of the chicks. Mine come in a little over two weeks so I need to get the brooder ready. Promised DH that I would reduce the size of the flock before next winter. May offer some extra hens to the neighbors since they are in the 5 mile radius and have Amish birds also. The others will probably be sent off to freezer camp. My roosters are just being little turds at the moment. I keep picking them up staring them in the eye and telling them how good they would taste. They just cluck back at me and when I put them back down they run off to beat up another rooster.
