penny, I too am now waiting to see what they end up looking like, and what color eggs they lay. If they lay eggs like what they hatched out of, which is most likely, they will look similar to BA eggs, light brown in color.

Large, black, single comb, yellow feet with slate legs...maybe Javas. Mine laid a medium to large dark beige to brown egg.

Happy Thursday all! Still busy day here. Trying to put a doggy door in our storm door for the pups and get a screen door hung in the utility room doorway. Pups are doing fantastic. They are more relaxed and they are really delightfully funny little dogs. If they aren't sleeping in a puppy puddle they are wrestling in a puppy free for all. Warms my heart to know they will spend the rest of their lives together. We are starting to introduce them to the other two dogs who are curious and puzzled but leery and with good reasons. I mean they were the youngest and suddenly there are these little heathens underfoot. Female Spot just stands and stares at them with her forehead all wrinkled like 'what the heck IS that?' While Buck sort of just looks at them as if he is trying to figure out exactly what he is supposed to do with them.

I told DH I didn't know about him but I felt revitalized. Yes we now have 5 ACDs. But, losing Dingo ripped a big hole in our hearts and it took 5 Red Heelers to fill it. Usually he tells me I'm being corny when I say stuff like that but not this time. He agreed with me.

My broody is on day 8. 3 of 4 bantam eggs developing nicely. Hope to get a purebred SWD chick this time. 5 Fayoumi chicks doing well also. Looks like the chick that didn't survive was definitely a pullet. Three are growing little tail feathers. 2 Aren't. Figures.......

Weather is cooler here and I just looked at the extended forecast and they have the audacity to call for snow showers on Sunday with a high in the 40s. Only good news is that the see sawing temps are giving DH a chance to get my tiller repaired and the garden tilled for me. I was hoping to set out my squash and plant peas and onions this weekend as the temps have been in the 70s for highs and the 50s for lows.
