The Old Folks Home

Nasty!

Yeah, we got a bit more snow (and a short burst of hail) on Sunday... but stiff is still melting....

Weather is talented.

Pond is still frozen solid. The sink holes in my driveway were firming up... drying out a bit.

Haven't had the heat on for a month... we have been in mid 30s to mid 40s, so no need for heat.

Wouldn't be bad...except when the damp creeps in.
You have thicker blood than me! Hope it warms up for you soon.

It's early days yet. The rumor mill is going to work overtime on something this horrific, and not every reporter will double-check his/her sources. Reporting arson (or things that suggest it) without official proof is irresponsible; I fear repercussions against innocent people.

I agree Bunny. It's too early for them to know anything for certain. Instead of the media saying what they do know, and that they'll update us with factual information as soon as it is available, they start with the rumors, and false narratives. Yes, it's irresponsible, and may cause unwanted repercussions.

Morning everyone.

Yesterday was non stop from 7 AM when I got up til 8:30pm when I finally set down.

Managed to get my seed potatoes, (3 rows), onions (4 rows) and snap peas in the ground. Almanac calls for planting to be best the end of the week but the next 3 days are calling for rain so you gotta do what you gotta do when you can do it. My back and neck are screaming for mercy this morning but I'm glad we got it done. DH planted the potatoes for me. Don't know what I would do without him. I have squash plants and tomatoes to go out yet and pole beans to plant. I splurged on Sunday and bought a Lavender plant. Just have to figure out where to plant it now.

Pups are doing fantastic. They have come so far in one short week. They know that they are supposed to go outside to do their business during the day. We leave the utility room outside door cracked open and they let themselves in and out. They are invited in three or four times a day to torment the older dogs and cats and point out to us what we need to put away to save from destruction by cattle dog. This morning it was the antique hand crocheted table cloth that my mom had made almost 50 years ago. Yesterday I started spraying everything I could think of with Bitter Apple. Sidney got a taste of it and her facial expression was just hysterical.

Reminds me, need to buy a gallon of that stuff.

On top of that I started to study for my last upgrade on my HAM license....just to keep my brain nimble.

I haven't had a chance to check the news yet. The Notre Dame fire is just tragic. Thank God from what I read last night, nobody was killed. It will be rebuilt though and be better than ever.

@ronott1 what is the formula for egg washing before incubating?

Is there one that uses diluted bleach?

I have some dirty duck eggs I want to incubate.
Yes! It is the weak bleach solution: 1 tablespoon of bleach per quart of water.

I have also used mana pro egg wash. There are instruction on it for washing eggs for incubation.
