The Old Folks Home

after several days of rain and days in the 70's - today we got snow from morning thru the afternoon. Heavy, wet, slushy stuff that will freeze over tonight.:hmm
That would be bad for Garden plants!

No garden plants, last year the deer demolished my fancy hostas I had for years, then reluctantly(I gather) finished off the common hostas. Nothing left. Plus got an email from the Hosta people thanking me for my previous orders but announcing their business had been sold to someone else.

Big tree was felled last fall when DH lost one of his planes in it. He said if it hadn't been his best motor he would have let it stay where it was but he couldn't do that with this RC.
Poor tree! It should have released his plane. How did the plane fare coming down with the tree? Or was he just concerned with retrieving the engine?

Harsh winter brought down a lot of deadfall for us to harvest. We used 2/3rds of last year's harvest so we shouldn't have to work as hard as we did last year.
Good thing, your body needs to heal up.

Biggest is a 590. It's a moose.
I guess! 59.8 cc engine. 13+ pounds without bar, chain, fuel and oil. Probably runs 15 pounds + in use. My little 180 is only 2 HP, 31.8 cc engine. Only holds 8 oz of gas so frequent refilling.

When I filled out their decision guide, the 590 is what was recommended. Apparently that is based on "Regular firewood cutting" and "novice/occasional user". Didn't matter if I was cutting max 12" trees or 18". If I'm only doing 6" trees is suggests the CS-490. Bar lengths 16, 18 and 20". Who the heck is going to use a 20" bar on a 6" tree?

I see they are sold by Home Depot but I'd rather buy from somewhere that can do maintenance on it. I've found that Echo is sold by 2 places locally that are full service dealers. I'll check it out.
Turn on the north wind and send some of that cold down to Ron!

It's dropping to 64 sometime before morning, then up into the 80's again tomorrow. Tomorrow night, it's going down to 55, then back up into the 80's the following day. Yes, I've been running the AC for awhile now.
We will do the same! Today 59 then into the 80s on the weekend

If you use the saw a lot, you have to sharpen often. It might help to get a power sharpener too. It is usually a southerly wind because of the Central Valley

The cold storms here come down from the north over the Pacific ocean and then come on shore. The often head east and hit Cynthia on there way too
