The Old Folks Home

We go through it so fast fridge would never get closed here:gigBF loves home made bread
Same here, Penny.

I found a recipe for Amish sweet bread that we absolutely love. Can't make it in the bread machine so I have to wait for days where we have a morning fire in the fireplace to make it as it seems to rise better when I set it near the stove.

I picked up a loaf of store bread one week when I was super busy. DH made a PB&J sandwich for himself and immediately proclaimed that he liked my homemade bread better. I had to agree with him. Store bread has an artificial, styrofoam taste to it. I wound up feeding the loaf to the chickens.

Have my second broody on eggs. Couldn't break her. Planning to move the Fayoumi chicks out this weekend. Final count. 1 Cockerel, 4 pullets. Then I'm going to move Juliette, my broody SDW that is sitting on two quail eggs and one bantam egg into the house and the brooder coop. I figured that if the quail eggs do hatch, the chicks will have a better chance where I can keep an eye on them and mamma. She is brooding in a cat litter bucket so no big deal to move her in once it is dark and she is in week two so I figure she will stay put once moved....I hope!

Good morning How are the pups doing there Micro Please still need to clean coops
but just 10 am here

Growing like weeds and too smart for their own good. They have mastered 'Sit' and love to play ball. Two of the boys have mastered jumping over one of the security gates, which is so funny to watch. They jump, hook their little front legs over the top, climb up the gate using their back legs, hook their hind feet over the gate and hurl themselves over. We have to double gate their doorway now with one high and one low in order to keep them in.

The boys are better at house training than the girls are and they are all affectionate and eager to please.

Gee when you get done cleaning your coops could you jet here and clean mine? It's too muddy to get the tractor out to haul the stuff to the compost pile. I have till Sunday to get it done cause the Fayoumi 5 go out to the coop then so I can get Juliette and her three eggs in the brooding pen and shuffle Screech around.

Have plans for a broody room but all is on hold till it dries out enough for our diesel tank to get moved and the wall built.

Maybe by August?

More like our weather we are having a very dry spring going right into a dryer summer
costing as we are on city water watering garden like every other day even small one takes water .. puppy time is precious miss never having the pups herding breeds have always been my number 1 followed by Standard Poodle :celebrate:smackdry here say we will break records with the heat next couple days but then back to upper 60's

Oh poo! Never gave that a thought but it makes sense.

When things get settled down I'll try the food coloring tip. I've got a box of tampons around here somewhere. DH gets a kick out of me every deer season, I hunt up the old box of tampons, dip them in Doe estrus pee and hang them up in the woods to draw in the bucks.

Hey, don't laugh, it works! Looks weird but works!

Friend of ours has three does getting ready to kid.
Friend on another forum has 4 pregnant ewes. 1 dropped 2 lambs 2 days ago, 2 dropped 3 each yesterday, 4th due next week.

And for starting fires. Learned that on a "special ops" like video though I've not tried it. If it really does work the ladies on Survivor™ should pack in a few.
