The Old Folks Home

I have never received such a warm welcome anywhere. Thanks to all of you. You will find that once I get going you may have to put the jabber block in place.

Does that make me the youngest at 68? I haven't been the youngest for a very long time. I wouldn't be old except for my back think that the surgeons can't fix. All things considered, for an old lady with a degenerative back thing I do better than I should be doing. I have to take more pills than I would like to need, but at least I'm not on anyone that you have to go to the pain doctor to get.
:hugs i also have a back thing but still manage to do whatever i want and need to do, just comes with age i guess, and set in our ways

Good Morning everyone!

Whether your children are human or have fur and 4 legs or 2 and feathers, Happy Mother's Day to all women out there!

Mother's day can be a hard day for women like me who are childless. But as I am fond of saying. Mother is a verb as well as a noun and you don't have to give birth to be a mother or to mother. So all woman are mothers, potential mothers or have something in their lives to mother. So have a great day everyone.

I was born in July of 53 so I'll be 66 this year. Not a kid anymore but happy to be a senior citizen!

Hi Kdogg. :frow Haven't seen you for awhile!

No idea what "popcorn poop" is. But your blabcheck is that split-second of being able to stop an utterance before it leaves your lips. You know, like when something comes out of your mouth that really has no business being in the light of day and -- oops -- you cannot unring that bell. That's your blabcheck being unactivated.

I, too, am childless. Well, of the human kind, anyway. I've got my fur babies.
I do have a step-daughter and two step-grands, but my stepdaughter came later in life when she was an adult, so didn't have any mother input there.

Blueberry muffins sound splendid! I think I'll deprive the chooks of their berry treats and bake a small batch. Thanks for the idea!

60 going on 61 here. Watched "Wine Country" on Netflix last night, about a Napa birthday getaway. MAJOR laments in the film about turning 50. HA! 50 was great. 60 things started to fall apart in rapid order. Me at the TV screen: "Oh, you whiners. Just wait."

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
If not celebrating with your own progeny, celebrate the fond remembrances of your own mother. Love and thanks, Mom!

I walked out to the garage yesterday, to discover Dh, and the grands with hammers, and a paper plate. On the plate was mixture of pink, purple, and orangish crumbles, that they were smashing into a powder. The youngest looks up, and says look grandma, as she put a little crumble in her mouth. She declared that it tasted good. I asked what was on the plate. Calcium Carbonate was the answer. ????? Dh decided our garden needs calcium. It dawned on me that he had gotten into the kids Flintstone vitamins, and they were smashing them up.

Considering the size of our garden, and the amount of powdered vitamins on the plate, which are not exactly cheap by the way, I had to chuckle. At least they were all busy, and having fun. They went to the garden, mixed the powder in water, and sprinkled it on the base of the plants. Not much per plant, and they ran out before they got done. I told him we had plenty of calcium for the garden, if he wanted it, because when I grow watermelons, they require extra calcium. I told him to go into the tack room, and get some oyster shell calcium.

He comes out, and asks me how he's going to be able to pound it into powder. I almost fell down laughing. Honey, you don't smash it up. Just toss some around the plants, and it's done. It breaks down over time, washes in when the sprinkler goes on, etc. It's like time-released. No more smashing the kids' vitamins.
:lau Well, he was thinking outside the box. Now the kids will go do the same with all pills!
