The Old Folks Home

Truck driver that comes in here got one of those Traeger pellet bbqs. Loves it and he has a couple big smokers. His is a regular one but I saw they have these, pretty cute lol.

Very nice!

I have a pit boss pellet BBQ. It is bigger for the same prices as the traeger pellet bbqs.

Even the regular Traeger pellet smoker is too pricey for me.
I just cut out the legs, door, flue collar from my old barrel stove to put in a new one. Attempting to reuse the bolts but may have to find different one's.
Not sure yet if I'm just going to pipe it in to a stainless propane grill or dismantle it and attach it to the barrel.
I'll have a smoker grill for zero $ if I can get the bolts freed up.

That sounds nice!

The pellet BBQ has the convenience of propane with the flavor of wood smoke.

It works great as a smoker or a grill. this one has a cover that slides back to allow access to open flame too

Lol, I actually saw someone here has fertile eggs. Not sure how far from me they are, says Catskills Hudsen valley area, opposite side of the Castkills from me but if not too far I just might. They haven't responded back yet though. I really like guineas.
I grew up in that area, in Delmar, NY.

Doesn't matter what they look like, Beer, they all sound the same.

Someone asked me today if I noticed a difference in sound after I got a metal roof.

Uhm... I currently have more than 10 roosters, a flock of guineas, the infamous screaming goat, the baying hound... any sounds that may be coming from my roof are immediately drowned out and the least of my worries.

It is good that the neighbors are not too close...or are they too close?

Our house, like a lot of Amish built homes, is clad in metal and has a metal roof. If I go up in the attic during a storm the noise is deafening. A nice shower produced the best sound. Hail is just gawdawful.

Had a funny conversation with one of the members of our HAM club yesterday. He had a load of 10 foot 4X4s in the bed of his truck. DH asked him what he was building and he admitted that it was for his new chicken run. He and his wife were getting 12 chickens and he was figuring 30X50 feet for their run. DH just chuckled and I joined in. DH told him he needed a bigger run. The guy looked puzzled and said 'really? for 12 chickens?' I then told him I started out with 12. Quickly went to 18. Then DH piped in with 'she had almost 80 before she got rid of over half of them this month'. I wish I had a picture of the poor guys face. I advised him to think BIGGER. always thing BIGGER when building for chickens.

I'm sure he went home and started changing his plans. I didn't get a chance to warn him that man makes plans and chickens laugh......then set on eggs and make more chickens.

I need to remind DH that he promised me Guineas last year. Should render him speachless for a short while!
