Nope. I've been around Amish that are no different than you or I and I have been around Amish that may as well be Martians.

Big difference and maybe it's just the local Amish here because I hear this from a lot of people, is that their attitude is that since they are the only ones going to heaven, they will never see non-Amish there and since they don't have to face us in heaven....well, you get the drift.

In all truthfulness we have found the men to be a lot friendlier and straight forward than the women. I've been around groups of Amish women and had them speak nothing but Pennsylvania Dutch with me sitting in the room with them. I can pick out a word or two thanks to my dad but I can't follow a conversation and IMHO it's the highest level of rudeness to do that. Later I said something in Amish Deutsch in front of one of the women and her eyes popped out of her head. She asked me if I could speak their language. I didn't lie to her. I told her my dad was Pennsylvania Dutch and born in Burk's county Pennsylvania and was fluent, which he was. She said "Then you can understand what we say around you?" I didn't say no, but I could pick out words. I just smiled illusively and refused to answer. I thought she was going to pass out and loved every minute of it. Never again did she speak Amish Deutsch around me.

Sometimes it's not what you say but what you don't say that gets your message across.;)

If they were to get eaten I sure wouldn't name them. And I would have only one breed so they would be harder to tell apart. Though, all of my layers have their own personalities so I suspect if I had 20 birds that all looked alike, I could probably still pick out a few based on their personality.
