The Old Folks Home

As soon as Dd gets up, and into motion, I'm going to swap out two groups of chickens in the coops/runs. She and the grands have been enjoying staying up extra late, and sleeping in. It's one of the perks of summer vacation. I can actually do it by myself, but it's easier with help.

Rain, rain and more rain. Only thing happy are the 4 of 5 pups who got to go out and play in the lagoon which now has about 3 feet of water in it. I stood and watched tadpoles swimming around in it. Three of the pups waded right in. Two of them actually swam around in the deeper water and played tag in it, the lone female, Roxi ran around the edge barking at them that they were going to get hurt and stop it while Sid, still recuperating from her spaying, set and pouted inside their fenced in backyard.

So funny how the females boss the boys around.

@trumpeting_angel quite a few retired and not retired medical professionals here. I'm a retired LPN. Love retirement. 6 Saturdays followed by a Sunday to enjoy.

You go @perchie.girl! Every pound lost is a triumph.

DH just looked out at the rain and told me to think of the positive side. We haven't had to water any plants this year.

In fact I've been teaching them all how to swim.

Got up way to early here one of the few times I let the birds out
The sun comes up very early here and it is hard to sleep in. I was up at 6am this morning

There are so many contrasts in regions! We are in the middle of no rain here and back to some heat. I will need to keep hydrated as I go out to work on cleaning the coops and some yard work today.

DH and I look out on our deck at my container garden and are amazed by how well it is doing compared to our regular in the ground garden which is suffering badly from the wet weather. The pots can drain, the garden can't. I just told him that I have this fear that once the rain ends, the heat and dry will set in. That is the usual pattern. I was looking ahead at the forcast and they are calling for high 80 degree temps and no rain by the end of next week.

@ronott1. You will be going into fire season soon where you are won't you?
