The Old Folks Home

My turkeys are pretty cool. Calm, don't make much noise, super friendly and not skittish at all. Don't know how old they are but still young half the size of the chickens. Saw one strutting today! Must be those BB ones strut super early.

:weeIt is good to know that not all turkeys are turkeys from Hell!

Sorry SCG....

I deadheaded my basil again and put the blossoms and top leaves in a saucer and set it on the island as a test. Only saw one fly near the island all day which is a pleasant surprise. They have been so bad that I just keep a bucket of bleach water on hand and wipe everything down 4 times a day. Plus DH put in a doggie door for the heathens, I mean pups yesterday. That helped the fly problem a lot also, at least in the house. It was a blast watching the pups get used to the flap door. As things dry out the fly plague is slowly wanning. I went out today and worked for a half hour in 98 degree heat indices in the sun trying to take out the glazing around a window in the coop so I could get better airflow. When sweat started running in my eyes I solved the problem by picking up a broom and putting the handle through the window pane. Hey, worked for me. Got hardware cloth stapled in and just have reinforcement in the form of wood strips to screw in and job is done. Then tackled the door. It has a window in it also. Hammer fixed that. Picked up pieces of glass and stapled in hardware cloth there and still need to get trim stips in but I need to get a bag of wood screws before I can get that done.
Asked DH if he could tell I was feeling better.:ya:fl I hurt like h*** but I feel better. Even trade in my book. I have the feeling the PA and I are going to rumble big time the next appointment I have. I made up a list of side effects I was having. Stopped at 11.

Neighbor up the road walked down and brought us a quart of fresh blueberries. Seems as though he visited a pick yourself farm nearby. Sugar free, fat free Jello pudding cheesecake with blueberry topping for dessert tonight.:drool

@CapricornFarm your pallet coop looks great.

DH asked me today why my birds aren't eating the mice. I told him I have three that will hunt and eat them, but if he really wants to get rid of the mice we need Guineas. What's strange is that they are decimating the bait I put outside in Tom Cat bait holders but I'm not finding dead mice which makes me think these are field mice coming in for a quick nosh. I've given up trying to get all the spilled feed raked up. My birds are slobs.

I hope you can keep enough medication to keep the RA from causing too much damage to your joints

It is great that you are feeling better

Sorry SCG....

Just had to do a conference call for work with an important group. The only place I get signal at my house is on my front porch. Which is near the animal pens.

Do you see where this is going?

"Hi, who just joined the call?"
"It's SCG from X department GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE"
<dies inside and puts phone on mute>

I hate turkeys.
