The Old Folks Home

Mine has it, and he passed it on to me?!

Mine loves to work in his shop. He loves working with wood, works on cars..not sure how much he loves that anymore. :D

So who said they got snow? Same thing here..snowed all last nigh, still snowing, and it will through the night again!
My new pup loves it!

You can barely see the coop and run. I have a small run at the
end there, with some pullets in it. Little grow out part.

Missy's first time in the deep snow. She loves it! That's a
golden for you.

Our apple tree out front. The other two and the pear tree in back
are pretty too. :)
We just might have a white Christmas. Supposed to snow again
on Fri.

I like to build too, but DH has better skills and is overall stronger; I usually decide the design and try to figure out solutions to little problems.

I'm hoping for one more turkey coop, a triple condo for breeder birds, and . . . I'm sure I will think of something else when those are finished.

@7Biddies-- I was at the funeral home yesterday. My great aunt of 105 passed away on Friday. Felt strange walking into the building with my son after many years since the last family funeral. THe portraits of my grandfather and his brother and their dad are on the office wall with a nephew. Felt the same, felt different. THe men at the door I don't know, the receptionist not Aunt BEtty. THe buidling is the same, the water bubbler by the cloak room. THe stairs to the downstairs private area. TIme has marched on.

Snow here too yesterday, about 8 inches. Spent 2.5 hours shoveling it last night. First night in a long time that I've slept reasonably well. It's raining today, which is nice, but it will be a sheet of ice tomorrow. More snow predicted in the near future. Helloooo winter.

The puppy picture is adorable.

Ok sewers... I've got my capes made, but I need to put the finishing touches on them, and I need help. I want to put their initial on the back. E and A. I cut out the easiest looking A I could find to start, and now I'm at a loss. The directions for the cape also give a superhero mask (which I didn't dare to attempt), and they say to X stitch any ends that aren't hemmable such as the eye holes but the fabric is majorly shedding (I think it's satin or something masquerading as satin) and I'm not sure that'll work for the A/E. So then I thought I could hem the A (maybe) but how does one hem the hole of the a?

I promise this is the last of the sewing questions for awhile.

Me, too! Mine ain't got it, though...........

Mine either. He worked on our house for years, so I can hardly blame him. I've gotten more interested in it myself, but I can only do so much. My favorite designer label is Porter Cable

Looking good!!

Clip 1/2 inch in each of the three corners and fold back to hem. Use plenty of pins to secure the folded material before sewing. THis is neater and just requires a little more work.

DId I make sense?

Yes, I was kindof thinking that, so thank you. I got some answers from friends that basically you can't hem the a hole and that I just need to X stitch neatly across it to minimize fraying, and after spending all this time on the capes, I'm really not excited about putting something on it that will fray in probably just a few days. I've actually gotten decently good at pockets on aprons in the last few weeks, so I think this is similar. Would you hem first then put it on the cape or hem while you attach?

PS Porter Cable is one of my favorite brands, too. That's my couture.
