How is your puppy doing?
Paisley is doing great, health-wise ..........................housebreaking.....................not so much!

She has not wet her bedding in a couple of weeks, she did, however, wet MINE!

She is one of those high energy dogs and just doesn't seem to have time to go to the door, she just pauses long enough to squat whenever needed.

If I could get the male members of this house to leave her in her crate it would be much better, but she convinces them that she will die a painful death from puppy melancholy, complete with pitiful wimpering and saucer sized sad eyes, and wet-dishrag ears, if she has to stay in there when anyof them are sitting on the couch. She will not attempt her academy award winning performance if I am home. She knows that I will respond with a sharp verbal "ENK!" She knows that it works on them! She's a smart one.

I LOVE IT! Too funny!

Is that snow or sand? It looks grainy like sand to me, but I have only seen snow once or twice in my life so what do I know?

Puppy training has it's challenges!! I have totally lost my tolerance to peeing in the house. THe cats can't seem to make it 20 feet to the litter pan. FAR worse than puppy smells. You sound like you have the puppy in hand if just "eck" works. Now to train the other humans in the house . . .

Most problem areas, in my experience. Put the seat back down. Put all your dirty clothes in one pile rather than stringing them across the house. Wipe your shoes on the doormat before you track hay in. Hang up your keys on the keyrack so you don't lose them then spend twenty panicked minutes looking for them in the morning. etc.

We're working on the silent commands and hand signals, dsqard, but he's just not getting it so far. I may have to resort to a choke tie.

OMG! You've made my day. Thanks for making me laugh so hard.

Ah yes, I'm familiar with the methods and the issues. I found out mine had a learning disability and was unable to be trained. I got a divorce, he got alimony, and I got a newer model who was pre-programmed to respond favorably to certain commands like "do your own laundry." Everyone wins.

... She knows that I will respond with a sharp verbal "ENK!"

You've made me feel so much better ... I have always used "ENK" on kids/husbands/animals and found it to be VERY effective. But, when I told that to a friend, she almost passed out and said, "I've NEVER spoken to my children like that!!" <clasping her hand to her chest>

Huh?

ENK is bad? I thought her telling her kids that they were going to get a college degree whether they wanted one or not was the sign of a controlling/overbearing parent, but she made me feel like a child abuser.
