I wonder what the topic today will be...

I drove from Davis CA where I work to Novato CA, which is in the Bay area to pick up a Bresse pullet yesterday. Cute little 3 month old white with blue gray legs. She is very sweet.

It took me 1 and a half hours and I started on Interstate 80. During and after the trip a several things occurred to me. One was that I could, in about the same amount of time and depending on if I went East or West on 80, get to either skiing at Lake Tahoe or Wind Surfing on the Bay! Of course I don't do either so it would more likely be eating Sourdough bread and watching the Sea Otters on the Pier or Sipping hot chocolate while the Daughters Snow Boarded. Of course in the Summer I could fish by Tahoe. I do go fishing...

Number 2 was that a Stick shift in a traffic jam on a hill is a bit challenging--especially when cars like to hug your bumper. I did the parking break trick. Number 3 was that 3 hours of driving is a lot harder on me at my age.

Getting the Bresse was worth all of it!

Good morning or really mid morning old peeps....

Yes, it looks like a wonderful spring day... but wait, it is still winter so this nice day will only fool us older peeps into thinking it's spring.
Mother Nature is like that, she just loves to mess with us older folks. (ok those young peeps as well)

So, I have remixed 2 flocks into one, (yesterday) added the teens from JDC to their new to them but old coop 2. Kicked the Rooster out, since the teens are still too young to mix with (see, a safe word instead of the proper word) but he just doesn't care. mmm, reminds me of teens I knew once upon a time...

Am now thinking of building a coop 4 and figuring out how I can remodel coop 1 and 3 without letting the chickens run wild and free with no real protection at night. They free range during the day but having open walls at night is just asking for trouble... So my old mind is busy figuring, forgetting and re-figuring how to do this when I know darn well, It is going to be getting cold, maybe snow and rain some more. Nothing worse than being half done and pull off because of weather.

To all the old English teachers out there. yes, I know I have a major run on sentence. I was the king of them during my school years. learned how to write a 4 thousand word sentence, then after the good grade, lowered due to lack of correct structure, I could add all the right periods, commas etc and up the grade. smiles. They call it, thinking faster than your hands can move...

ok, I have rambled on enough.
