The Old Folks Home

I just posted these to the 100 Community Photos thread; dunno if they'll be accepted, but thought I'd share 'em here, too. Just 'cause I can.... (I'm at the computer today, doing catch up on LOTS of things.)

Hmmm, none of the turkeys appear to be in this shot.....
.

Just a cozy night; my legs are under the throw blanket.

Beth fell asleep on my arm; you have no idea how hard it was to get this shot with my other hand!
.

Well then I suspect that the reveal will have to wait until this evening.
You need to be present and accounted for.
OK, OK I was hoping to weasel it out of you now.

I guess I will have to wait. LOL

Linda love the last sleeping chicken picture. She looks totally zonked out and totally happy.

Didi... How's the weather down there today? We warmed up last week but it is definitely jacket weather today!! Even though the sun is out, it is windy (strange for Idaho Falls I know..

) and chilly!!

You know you really should go straight home and stay there so the mystery can be solved!! I think we are all going crazy waiting!!!

Ok, if you had added the possibility of being shot at, I probably would have had a stroke. Because I learn from my mistakes, I took an Imodium and some Tums before boarding (and again, having my bag confiscated) and told the copilot when deplaning that if the holes in the seat from my nails were too big, to just send me a bill. He laughed heartily, and maybe that made up for me whimpering in his ear the last half hour. Not that he could have heard it over the roar of the engine, though.

I can't imagine doing that frequently, as part of a job. Do you ever get used to it?

And I didn't willingly pay for/take this flight. I let Expedia book it for me, told them where I wanted to depart from and land at... then searched nearby airports and took the cheapest of the quickest flights. I might take it again, but they really ought to serve cocktails in the waiting area.

When I was a teenager, my father decided I should learn to fly, so he would take me up in a little plane. The most frightening part to me was when he would require me to pull back until the engine stalled. Yikes! I got quite a few hours and still have my little flight book, but I just didn't have the knack or desire to become a pilot. I've never ridden in a helicopter and I definitely consider small planes safer than airliners. At least there is a chance you might be able to glide down if something happens.

I lived out in the boonies. No neighbors. Had to keep myself entertained.

Anyway, yeah, starting the tomatoes inside. Nothing coming up yet, all my bulbs are still frozen along with the dirt. We have a good set up for seed starting:

We start seeds in this insulated box. There's grow lights and heat mats, and I add a fan once the seedlings come up.

When they graduate from the seed box, then they go outdoors in a cold frame during the day, and come in at night:

This makes them big and healthy and ready for transplanting. Our summers are so short, and sometimes really cold, that I need to start things early. We also have a hoop house over a raised bed, but I planted garlic in it last fall, so won't be using it this year for tomatoes, maybe next year.

I use a lot of old kitty litter pails too for growing, I find that is the only way I can get peppers - must be the warmer soil. Looks ghetto, but I live almost at the end of a dead end dirt road, so I don't think anyone cares. Besides, kitty litter pails are tres chic here - very common to see them filled with concrete to hold a mailbox down.

I loved that Ihad my dogs trained before having kids-- taught me a lot about raising kids!!! However, my dogs tend to be more reliable about following commands than the kids. LOL

Hurray-- you are going to see your son!! ANd going to DIsney. Bring your walking shoes!

Green
No clue how change it to Green but you use your imagination
Crazy day today
Got the babies moved out side yesterday and introduced the big chickens to them. That went pretty well. They loved having room to run around and new grass to eat. Although the babies are still a little suspicious of the big scary outside.
Had dad's memorial today and I restrained from hitting my sister or calling the cops on her.
Got a really cute picture of the girls

Yes Wisher that's Elle

Nice looking chicks!

Linda, all heritage turkeys are "long lived" ... what you need are a few penciled palms like these...

or some Narragansetts like these...

Text your financial advisor and have him send you a few!!!

Beautiful cat Linda!

So while I am much much older than SCG, I'm not quite ready for the old folks home.. SCG informed me that membership in this thread wasn't so much about age as it was cognitive maturity and invited me to join you full time.. Somehow I have given her the erroneous illusion that I don't belong in a looney bin with my arms strapped to my sides... (obviously she has never participated in an elucidating discourse with my MIL who would probably volunteer quite willingly to testify about my need for a padded room, restraints and medication) that being said, I look forward to additional interaction with all of you (supervised by the men in white of course) Oh look!! a chicken!!

Birdguy, today is actually pretty nice here. Not as warm as last Friday but not bad for March at all. I think we might see leaves popping out in the next week or so if this keeps up. We do have a call for mixed snow/rain on Thursday and Friday but if we get any it probably won't stick around long. I will be leaving work soon but I have to take the pup to the vet so I won't have time to investigate what may or may not

be on my front porch until about 5 PM when I get back from the vet. Believe me I am dying to know what it is too.
