The Old Folks Home

get the tracking and call your postmaster. The web tracking does not update--the postmaster can get the current tracking for you.

It updated twice in about an hour. Now it says its at the hub.The next stop should be here in town but we only get 1 truck a day at 600 am so it'll be here tomorrow.Whats really funny is the website asked me to do a survey on my satisfaction with the service. My mama always said don't ask if you don't want to here the answer.lol

O.K. It's time for a rant.

On Tuesday morning MyPetChicken sent out my order using the US Postal Service. They just now updated their computer tracking for the first time, according to that they finally picked up the package. Now I know the box is probably sitting in Casper at the area hub and will be here tomorrow, but this is ridiculous no wonder the USPS is having financial problems. They suck. Are they always this slow with priority mail? Fed-ex picked up another live package on Tuesday night and had it at my door 10 am Wednesday plus the tracking updated every 30 minutes or so.
Now I feel better. Thanks for listening.
Took the eggs I shipped last tuesday till this tuesday to get delivered and my buyer had 5 broken eggs and a box of gunk. I've never had one tale more than 4 days. They seem to get worse every year. And these eggs were sent less that 3 ?? hours away from me. Traveled up and own the state, back and forth. I'm ticked!

Yesterday was gorgeous. Sparkle the House Silkie took her brood of four chicks outside and OFF THE DECK into the garden for the first time. They were so excited scratching in the soil, dust-bathing in actual dirt (not brooder bedding) and having so much room for the Zoomies! Really cute how they'd zoom off past a planter or around the fountain, then discover they were actually out of Mom's sight... They would freeze into little chick statues, then turn around and rush back towards the sound of her clucking. The way they dashed back to her actually displayed relief at not being lost. :love

I dragged my garbage can the seventeen miles down to our pick-up location. Okay, it's not that far, of course, but the uphill trek sucks. Totally forgot it was going to rain today even though I watched the weather forecast on the late news.

This morninng said rain awakened me at 0730 hours. Crap! I left the bag o' BOSS and two bags of feed right where I dragged them out of the car on Tuesday! (I got the third bag into the coop that day because the flock was down to feed dust and I couldn't walk anywhere without a 50+ bird entourage otherwise.) Got the BOSS into the coop, where I do not normally store it - there's a Rubbermaid tote by the "hitching post" where I dispense it for treats but it was raining so hard I didn't want to spend time opening the bin, opening the bag and dumping it into the bin whilst I was out there in my nightshirt!. Grapped a tarp and covered the feed bags. Got back inside before I was too totally drenched or slipped anywhere. Whew!

Alice, my Sebright hen who comes into the house each day to lay her tiny egg in the "house" nest box neither Beth nor Punkin have ever used, was between the slightly open screen door and the closed French door, jumping and flapping at the bottom corner glass pane. I apologized to her when I opened the door. (We do that, don't we - apologize to our chickens for stuff, right? Please tell me im not the only one!). Alice snarked about wet feathers for a good minute or two before settling into the nest box.

I'm going to have to locate, empty and clean another brooder bin for the Easter Hatch chicks; Sparkle and her chicks return to "theirs" every night, so it's not available.. The chicks are not going to fit in that cage much longer and they're past the Sleep Most Of The Time stage. They need space.

Happy Friday, y'all.

It's got to get better from here, right?

I got a raging rash from the soap at work this week (the second time... I developed an allergy from the first soap and switched) so I've been soaking my hands in steroids and salve at night covered in a sock. I washed ALL my work pants last night, then did my hands. I figured I'd get up really early and throw everything in the dryer, do my chores, then shower and get dressed so I didn't get oily junk all over my clothes.

Got out of the shower this morning, reached into the dryer and felt... cold and wet.

The dryer died.

My work pants will not be able to air dry in the time I have before work. I'm contemplating grabbing the hair dryer once BF gets out of the bathroom. I do have one clean and dry pair of jeans, and my boss is going to FLIP if I wear them to work. I think he'd prefer them though to no pants at all.

SCG looks like there will probably still be snow in the mountains when you get here in a couple of weeks. This was taken today. No snow in the valleys, and much of the new snow will be gone but there will still be some.

Well, my chick order finally got here.2 live 13 DOA thanks to the USPS.A least Mypetchicken will do a reship .I'll get to pick from whatever extras they have available 15th. The lady said there is a good chance of getting the silkies and frizzles but probably not the mille fluers, marans,or favorelles.

I am trying to convince myself this headache is NOT going to blow up my skull. I have things to do - with other people, even - today.

Years ago, when i worked shifts, I used to enjoy Sunday and Monday as days off; one day I "could" spend with people who had weekends off, and one I could enjoy doing without crowds anywhere. Also, Thursday nights were great grocery shopping times. Well, back when I lived where there WERE grocery store open after 8 PM. I also preferred the afternoon shift, getting off duty around 10, 11, or even midnight.

Then I relocated due to my promotion and had to work regular hours with weekends and holidays off. Like most of the working world. When I was offered an alternate schedule, I chose Monday as my every-other week third day off. Everybody else wanted Friday off. <*shuddering*>
