Oh Linda-- glad you didn't get too hurt. Scrapes are so painful as it is.

Here in MAss sling shots are illegal. Had to tell my sons why they can't have one. WHere I grew up in Maine it was ok, but I do remember an incident where boys were shooting mtn ash berries and boy those things HURT! Maybe it is a good thing my boys can't have one.

Well, my sweet little Golden Retriever got one of my OE's today. I went out, didn't see the two pullets together that always hang together. Went to look under the coop, no babies. Then my heart sank as I knew where to look next. There in the dog area in my Missy with a bird in front of her. I ran into the area, and the bird was still alive. Very much alive. But, didn't last long once I got her into a kennel and brought her in. I honestly thought she just might make it at first. Of course it was one I had decided on keeping between the two. Sadness.

Well, my sweet little Golden Retriever got one of my OE's today. I went out, didn't see the two pullets together that always hang together. Went to look under the coop, no babies. Then my heart sank as I knew where to look next. There in the dog area in my Missy with a bird in front of her. I ran into the area, and the bird was still alive. Very much alive. But, didn't last long once I got her into a kennel and brought her in. I honestly thought she just might make it at first. Of course it was one I had decided on keeping between the two. Sadness.

Oh dear . . . I've had the same thing happen. The heart sinks knowing the last place to look is the dog pen. Caught my ANgel with a face full of feathers as he was trying to spit them out, and tail wagging at full speed. Hard to be mad at him for being a dog. I"m sure your dog bing a Golden didn't mean to hurt the chicken, maybe mouthed it too much. ANd yes isn't it always the one one wants to keep !!

Linda, The Dollar Tree store always has some bamboo back scratchers, I use them for lots of things like, retrieving items that fall under the dresser or bed., or mousetraps that somehow get moved under the water heater with a hot, smelly mouse in them. Pardon me while I puke

I dunno about a super soaker they are big. A cat is going to figure you have to hold it so if you aren't outside he doesn't have to worry. Maybe a tear gas grenade or something. Just kidding.

THAT is one smell that makes me hurl!! I can smell a dead rat!!!

How about a quick draw pistal type for that cat!! Or a scary noise.

Providing uncomfortable experiences should be enough to help the cat stay away. ANd the loud noise or squirt gun doesn't have to be applied every time to become effective!!

Now my dear old great AUnt used to throw bars of soap at the squirrels on the bird feeder ( feeder near bathroom window) and boy she seemed to always have bars that needed picking up!!! lol Squirrels are determined buggers!!

HI all,
I'm sorry to hear about the losses and falls. I hope things start looking up for everyone.I have been hatching all sorts of little fuzzies. Even 1 surprize lavender silkie

.Today I finish insilating the new coop and start the finish work. I hope to paint on Wed. This is my first solo biuld, well mostly solo. Gotta finsh soon I have little ones ( under 3 months) everywhere.
