I stopped by th feed store today. I bought 250lbs of feed and two poults! How did that happen?

I have been waiting for nearly a month for one of our feed stores to get some poults in. Only to find out they were not what I wanted! So I ordered what I did want today 9 more poults and 6 Welsummers 5- pullets- 1 roo.
I decided i want some chicken that I will be able to tell which is which right from the start! lol "Chickens for Dummies"! lol
All this guessing and posting pics.... It will be at least two weeks before I get them though!

Oh my goodness! They must have taken that picture in our town, just saw one like that on Main Street!! It was quite the gooey mess.

Even the regular cornish and not the cross?

I had the heated mattress pad on last night, it was in the low 50s and rainy. Looks like tomorrow will finally break this wet and cold cycle for us.

Last night I got smart (so I thought) and drilled holes in the dishes in the Have A Heart traps and used wire ties to keep them in place. I was figuring that maybe the rats were reaching through the wire, bringing the dish close to the edge and then eating the food.

This morning I come out and the dishes are still midline, the food is gone and the traps are not sprung.

Now I'm wondering if I need to glue the food to the bowl. Can't catch this amazing Houdini act on the game cam to find out what's going on. I'm also thinking of WD40ing the trap just to make it a bit easier to spring..

YES! I have 5 girls left to sort thru-- figured to pick a middle of the road grower so she can make it to 6 months and laying. Increase the activity and decrease the protein again.
