Stupid power outage did a job on my well pump. I have no water. I am shlepping pond water in buckets around for the flock.
The Well guy has some jobs to do today but will be here in the late afternoon. He is hoping the problem is just a fuse at the pump. My contractor friend John came by to see if it was something HE could do, but he always farms out pump issues because that is not his area of expertise. If it had been a fuse he could find, he would have removed it to go buy another for me, but even with the written instructions inside the metal case ("Yeah, that's Greek, all right") he wasn't willing to fiddle with it. He brought me a big ol' 64 ounce jug o' ice water.
He thoughtfully sprayed the black widow and her nest inside the pump box and inside the metal case of electronics, then duct-taped over the hole she used to get inside the metal case. Afterwards, he just enjoyed watching the flock for a few minutes before he went on his way... With a dozen eggs.
He last saw the goslings four weeks ago; today at six weeks, they amazed him with their growth. Kevin the Free peacock was in the coop; John said "that peacock isn't stupid."
I will be spending the day inside with my little window A/C unit keeping me from dying.
