you just posted that because I have been desperate for Australorp.
I deserve that for asking what an air cell is. I was going to say something about the aircells I have been known to produce but................
My poor eggs air cells never get that big. Humidity sucks
I will wait till thanksgiving and turn the poor lad into a soup called tinola. By then the June purebred hatchlings will be able to take overHe looks like what you get when Golden Comets breed. They break down into the breeds that make them.
Nice looking Boy though.
My MW Tom, Sarge, gobbles when motorcycles race down Mt. Aukum Rd at that killer, high whining speed one suspects will kill them if they hit anything or miss the curve at the Middle Fork of the Cosumnes River. He also gets into gobblefests with the folks next door (young boys) who have yet to have the last gobble in any of those contests. Nigel hasn't started to gobble yet. He's still making mournful "whut!" calls. ("Whoot" or "whut" hooties.) Amazing how "whut" can express interest in something, being startled, "don't leave me behind," and "Oh, there you are!"Yes yelling at them to hush up only encourages the behavior.![]()

This afternoon I treated myself to a great burger and a hearty beer at The Pub in Fairplay. Then for some reason, I took a very long nap when I got home.
Before lunch, I was tooling around in the area where I believe the ten acre property I'll be seeing tomorrow is located. No sign out yet, so I was guessing by looking at every place I could see a smallish, older manufactured home. There were properties all around (in that area) with sheep, or cattle, pigs, horses, goats, and one with a sign for "ranch egg" sales. Mwaahaaahaaa!.
eThat's how my great grandmother shipped and saved her chicken eggs. Back when I raised exotics I learned from her that you put the eggs in saw dust or cornmeal and it kept them from incubating before you wanted them to, so I learned on canaries and parakeets.
He's very pretty
Noooooooooooo He's to cute to eat. Says' the woman with wayyyyyy to many roosters.I will wait till thanksgiving and turn the poor lad into a soup called tinola. By then the June purebred hatchlings will be able to take over

There are no fresh eggs around her right now. I will probably have to wait till Spring. I also do not have a humidity thermometer just a temperature one. I did not know what a air cell was until the message from GodsgrlEggs need to be as fresh as possible, or at least kept in optimum conditions and turned regularly.
Can you try with fresh eggs? DO you know to watch the air cell for proper size development?? Might be better to talk via pm's and not tie things up here.
Awesome did not know that.An air cell is a small pocket of air in an egg. It's in the small end if I remember correctly. Next time you crack an egg for consumption, you can actually see the membrane in the shell. A chick pecks into that just before hatching, and takes a breath. Then he can work on hatching! At this stage, the chick will peep, you can hear it through the shell.![]()
That is awesome. I did not know that. I am such a newbie.
Oh they are so cute!
Oh he will be delicious! So cute tho. I think I have a soft spot for roosters until I want a baked chicken with rice, then they start looking like walking talking naked chickens when I feed them.
