First, contact the person over the poultry show and find out the requirements and how to register. I hope they require vet certification for Pullorium and Avian Influenza. If they don't, you may not want to participate.
Next, research conditioning for a show in regards to feed, feathers, weight, parasites, etc. Also learn basic showmanship for the young uns'. There are some good videos on this on the net. Practice, practice, practice, for you, the kids, and to get the birds used to it.
Lastly, search on how and when to bathe, especially feet, legs, vent, comb, wattles, face, and feathers.
