I live on 15 A and the neighbors are still too close for my tastes. You can manage the land to minimize your efforts, so 10 A needn't be a burden. You can plant fruit trees and have the chickens clean up the drops. Watch the black berries-- DH caught a rooster jumping to pick the ripe ones!!
Have you looked at electronetting for chickens and sheep??

My contractor often does property clean-up for the brokers, as well as repairs and construction. He's done dump runs for me on occasion, as well as having built all the cool stuff I've added to my current home. I talked to him today, warning him I will have work for him until the day he dies.
