The Old Folks Home

Linda--

trash can be cleaned up and you can make it part of the sale agreement.

I live on 15 A and the neighbors are still too close for my tastes. You can manage the land to minimize your efforts, so 10 A needn't be a burden. You can plant fruit trees and have the chickens clean up the drops. Watch the black berries-- DH caught a rooster jumping to pick the ripe ones!!

Have you looked at electronetting for chickens and sheep??

For the most part, the goats stay penned. I just happen to let them out every day.
The goats i knew climbed the woven fence, one foot on a wire pulling it down, repeat. She held it for her mini friend then hopped over. Then went for a stroll! Checkers was a trouble maker!!Only now willing to get the milk products-- fresh mozzarella yummmmmmm

Believe it or not, we built our fence. It's moveable. However... they don't usually get out. When Pip was really small she could get out between the panels in one spot, but I put a big rock there to block her way and that stopped. That was the only escape we've had that wasn't intentional. This is what we did, it's 4 feet tall. There's an eye hook and clip at each of the horizontal junctures of 2x4.

nice work!! No goat can pull this fencing down!! I'm just at the planning stage of running a couple strands of electic fencing , to keep the coyote OUT and move the chickens to another location for the winter.

I noticed a lot of electro-fencing on properties around the one I was considering. Horse country, Leedy explained. Barbed wire is a no-no to Horse People, she said.

It works with chickens? Hmm.

I LIKE that pen, SCG! It holds goats, huh?

Arielle, in order to lowball the asking price, we're going to write in that *I* will arrange for the trash clean-up. Save the elderly owners some money at one end, shave off some of the offered price.

The hoarder in me kinda wants to go through the stuff, anyway. My contractor often does property clean-up for the brokers, as well as repairs and construction. He's done dump runs for me on occasion, as well as having built all the cool stuff I've added to my current home. I talked to him today, warning him I will have work for him until the day he dies. :P

Capayvalleychick uses electric fencing as well as Jeremy, the egg farmer in Winters. You have to make sure the grass does not grow up into the fencing, which will short it out.

Yes, it holds goats. Quite well.

And Ron... your crust was wonderful. Thank you for sharing it (again). We froze the other crust for future use, but I don't think it's going to be frozen for long. I'm stuffed.

Now I am very Hungry!

That is the way a home made Pie is supposed to look! Good Job!

Thanks! He made the sauce, too. The crust was really easy to make, but it didn't come out of the bag like your directions say. I had to split the bag at the seams and scrape the dough out. Do you spray the bag first with oil?
