The Old Folks Home

Oh, fine, and I'm sitting here munching on a PopTart.

My friends who - in the past - processed my excess roosters picked up six from me last night. I had taken a partial roll of welded wire fencing over to their place earlier in the day, along with a bag of feed. They're going to build a pen for them and house them for me until Escrow closes AND I have a coop & run set up on the new property. Usually the boys just spend a few days in Freezer Camp, no run, until Processing Day. Unless I end up with a mean rooster, that's not going to happen any more. They just have to live somewhere else for a while.

HHAndbasket sent me a text message this morning: "Your roosters are spoiled babies!"

Well, uh, yeah. :D

French toast. Hickory Smoked Syrup. Pie. What next?

For a goodie cake.. I love to make the Pineapple cake.

Sooo easy.

You bake a cake according to pkg. direction.
Let it cool, then poke some holes across the top with the bunt end of a butter knife.
You have warmed up a large can of Pineapple pieces, with juice, and, with just a bit of sugar in it.
You pour this over the cake.
You have now made some vanilla pudding.
You pour that over the top of the pineapple.
You open a Cool Whip and spread it over the top of the pudding.

It's yummy. Sorry, no pictures. Haven't made this is a while. Since it's just myself and hubby now, I don't bake nearly as much as I used to. AT this time of year, I was making loaf after loaf of Zucchini bread. The kids ate it up as fast as I could make it.

You are killing me!! I live low carb and this is completely off limits. I would eat a uarter of it in a heart beat if it was cold. yum. ( FOrgive me Cynthia for not making it. iiBut my head is spinning trying to think of substitute LC ingedients!! )

So, Linda, you got the ten?

Yup! :weee

For just $3,500.00 more than the two acre place! (If there was a house on the property instead of a very old single-wide trailer I would have had to pay twice as much....) But the property is already permitted for a manufactured home, so some time in the future I can put something much nicer there. In the meantime, it's habitable if I wanna stay on the property overnight.

My real estate broker gently suggested I "become" a business for the tax benefits (because this is a second property, not my primary residence) and to get a Livestock Guardian Dog. Both are great ideas. I do sell eggs.... I have also sold "mutt" hatching eggs to several folks who don't have roosters but discover they've got a broody hen. Perhaps some day I might have some purebred eggs to sell, too.

I gots some plans.

Heck, I already have some metal yard art to put there; when I bought my current house, the day escrow closed, I stuck a metal rooster-hen-and-chicks whirligig in the front yard. Made it obviously mine immediately. ;)

Congratulations!!

I am extremely jealous.

I would love a few acres here.

One day...................

My place in the Philippines has been recording a loss as a farm for many years with Uncle Sam. I sell copra which would cover costs - its just the administration - like me having to fly in to check on it that makes me lose money.........such a shame :-)

Thought I'd share some info about the two different properties for anybody who's interested. I found the first myself, and the second was the one in which my broker thought I might be interested. She was correct. The application used is Zillow, a very handy one to utilize. Even if you aren't planning on buying some real estate, you can have a lot of fun plunking in addresses or scrolling around your own home out of curiosity. ;) The property I am buying was never listed in MLS, so Zillow has very little info on it. Just a "Zestimate" of its value.

Information and photos are accessed directly from current MLS listings.
Even if there is no MLS listing, the satellite photos are nifty.
