The Old Folks Home

1 and 1/8 cup pb
3/4 cup sugar

mix those together

then add:

2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk

mix

add vanilla to taste, I added contents of 1 bean

mix in ice cream maker about 20-35 minutes to desired consistency.

With about 5 minutes left add chopped candy if you want. ~1 cup
Easy peasy!!!

I can eat this using sugar free peantubutter and exchange the sugar for splenda!

Have you ever added chocolate, like cocoa powder?

I usually make a simple vanilla as anything can be added to that basic mix.

THat time I made in half and half on the sugars--splenda and white sugar.

I really avoid sugar like the plague as I am bombarded with hot flashes about 20 mintes after eating any thing with sugar. Even a 1/2 tsp of molasses will set off mild hot flashes when I have a low carb cheesecake.

ron, you changed you're avatar..took me a sec to recognize you. Nice. :)
The old Avatar with the HRIR on the cat is now 20 weeks old and is one of the Cockerels in the new avatar.

The boys get to go to the country and the one in the middle gets to be the main breeder. They are huge!

Oh, fine, and I'm sitting here munching on a PopTart.

My friends who - in the past - processed my excess roosters picked up six from me last night. I had taken a partial roll of welded wire fencing over to their place earlier in the day, along with a bag of feed. They're going to build a pen for them and house them for me until Escrow closes AND I have a coop & run set up on the new property. Usually the boys just spend a few days in Freezer Camp, no run, until Processing Day. Unless I end up with a mean rooster, that's not going to happen any more. They just have to live somewhere else for a while.

HHAndbasket sent me a text message this morning: "Your roosters are spoiled babies!"

Well, uh, yeah.

Not by much! I only signed my acceptance of their second counter-offer YESTERDAY and it goes into escrow tomorrow.

I also went next door to break the news, first that six roosters were leaving the property that night AND that I had just purchased "some property" to move most of the flock. Mrs. Retiree offered me a glass of wine. When I told 'em I was purchasing ten acres in Showcase Ranches, there were some wide eyes. "There are some really nice properties in there - your retirement pension must be great!"

No, actually, I am taking a tax hit from divesting funds from my inherited IRA. But the flock won't bother anybody out there in the ranch country. No, I am not moving; the property is 2.5 miles away so I can care for them daily. But first I need to have secure coops and runs built. Escrow closes October 15, plus a maximum thirty day rental if the sellers need the time. Thus it won't be right away, but "I told you I was working on it." [The Rooster And Loud Hen Situation]. Mr. Retiree apologized for his last nasty phone call (in which he used a common vulgarism and threatened to "take care of them if you don't)."

And then he said they'd been saving kitchen scraps so his grandkids could feed the flock over the fence. They LIKE the birds - just not the noise. We discussed the predators; they've seen a raccoon and the skunk each slinking around the fence of late.

His grandkids slept in sleeping bags and a tent on his deck last night for fun; the laughter, singing and squealing set off my dogs, which then made Carl crow. After dark.

Otherwise, it's been very quiet. There are a few more cockerels which will begin to crow before long....

Land is a good investment LInda, money on paper is just paper. 2.5 miles is cake!! I'll say again how excited I am for you. THe neighbors might miss the flock after you move them. . . .then you spend all your time at the new place, and rent the old one to opps crabby neighbors. THey may regret their &#&$&$$*#*# phone call.
