The roos are easy for me,I have my crowless roo Daryl and I am keeping a serama also named Daryl, and a mille Fleur D Ucle Larry. No others get names.

Is this a way of saying, I need to raise more next year?

SCG, I decided to use a Generation 3 Rat killer bate that is D3 based. I put some in a bait station and they would not eat it. I read an article that said to ditch the bait station and string wire through the sticks. Anchor the wire to something and leave it out for the rats to eat. I put 4 sticks out last night and today one is 2/3 gone! Another has about 1/4 gone.

This is Organic certified and will kill blood thinner resistant rats.It can get wet, is mold resistant and can take temps up to 200 degrees. It is called Agrid3.

OK I have a question.

At 13 days my cells look more like day 7. They were straight out of the hens, so very dinky when I set them. Less than a dime size diameter. Do I need to add water? I have none at all in there right now. I can't remember if I add or if I need to bring down the humidity. I figure if it's to humid in there I can put a dish of rice inside, but I think I need to add. Is that correct?

The important thing to watch for is the amount of development from 0 to7 and the 7 to 14. The best way is to weigh the eggs.

It sounds like yours are developing just fine.

The rats are still at the neighbors. I have left some food on the ground as a test overnight and it is still there the next morning. There are no new rat holes, and there's feed left in the ducks feeder when I get home from work (if too many chickens don't get out and eat it all). There has been nothing recently on the game cam with the exception of myself, the goats/chickens/turkeys/ducks, a large deer and a flock of wild turkeys.


I'm sure they'll be back *if* the neighbor declares war on them.


Just got back from the Augusta gun show. There was a really long 6 gauge black powder double barrel shotgun I really liked (wanted to put it above the mantle) but one of the hammers was broken off. Would have bought it if it was better condition. And BF wouldn't buy me the other thing I found that I liked (it was only 19K... and I'm joking, it was interesting but I have no use for it):

“Exposure to silica can be deadly, and limiting that exposure is essential,” said David Michaels, the assistant secretary of labor in charge of OSHA. He estimated that the proposed rule would prevent 1,600 new cases of silicosis each year.

There are two types of DE--one is Food Grade and the Silica is lower. It is the bones of dead sea creatures and high in Calcium. If it is fed to the chickens they absorb this calcium better.

It also helps keep flies down in the coop. It is not a good idea to breath it when putting in into the coop but is safer to use than poultry dust.
