The Old Folks Home

I might need another incubator for my meat bird project. This boy is only a few months old. He was a really fast grower, too. I plan to cross him with my cornish hens and see what happens. You can see he's just as big as my 5 month old goat. Of course my cornish need to grow up a bit, they're not close to laying, yet. Has anyone tried the butter pecan ice cream recipe yet? Did you also have good results? I have it bookmarked, that's my favorite....trying to NOT make it just yet......so tempting...I can just here my fat cells screaming...feed me, feed me! ;) Chirp

Not that bad. A bit desperate, maybe, but not insanely so. I once ate Nutella right out of the jar with a spoon because I had eaten all the bread (with Nutella on it).

Switching subjects, rapidly...

Those of you with a strong stomach and who enjoy the oddities in life, feel free to check out the lash egg I got today, it's at the bottom of the page:

I can't remember how many hens have died now of internal laying... at least 8 that I can recall... and I have one that is laying atrocities.
Wow, so sorry, very educational though...:/

No havent' make it yet. BUt you know New Englanders-- we eat ice cream all year round.

SCG-- we gotta talk about this BIG BOY and the Cornish X hen. I cant quite see the comb-- is it a single. I 'm likely to forgive him for that given his size. Any info on his muscling yet?
I held back two cornish X hens from the mid- May hatch that went to freezer camp. ANd I have another batch still growing out until I have freezer space and a very good butchering knife. I have made arrangements with ChooksChick to buy a number of the Konza's as a meat project. I was planning to use the corninX with my largest rooster, who is small compared to your giant, but the biggest I have and a pea comb thanks to his Ee mother. SHe is a lg EE compared to other EE's I have. He's the largest of her three sons by the same rooster.

I really need to scale back on my birds and focus on just a few.

SCG I thought everyone eats Nutella straight from the jar with a spoon. I bought a few long handled ice tea spoons for that and eating straight from the ice cream carton. Easier to reach the nooks and crannies and keeps your knuckles clean (sometimes).

chirp, hope you are feeling all better now..those back pains are the worst pain.

Nutella...ick! :/

SCG..that rooster is huge! In case ya didn't notice. :)

Chirping Cricket couldn't you have a new incubator sent to a friend or neighbors house - then sneak it in at your leisure.?

:thumbsup You are spot on. He knows that I "gave/sold" a friend 1 of our roosters and 3 hens with the promise that I could get some of those eggs this spring to hatch.....time will tell my friend...heehee, time will tell!!!;)
Problem is that Her husband refuses any more chickens...she agreed. :(

Time to make a new friend who wants to learn how to incubate....I'm thinking, thinking, hmmmmm, need to get busy on that project!!! What a Great idea! :celebrate There's hope yet~~ :thumbsup

Thanks Cynthia...this one got me, but about healed up. Sure helps that DH is a P.T. and gives great back massage...at least when I was able to let him touch it. Had me worried/scared a bit, but about back (hee hee) to normal, at least as good as it goes.

Chicken Diva, well, I'm not sure about the Nutella either, but sure have had my knuckles down in jars of yummy other things to eat! Learned to use a good rubber spatula, get every drop or bite!
