Penedesencas are wee little large Fowl. Even the Black Penes that are listed as Dual Purpose are not very large. The Crele that I have even crows at a high pitch....

The Mystery Rooster looks like a Partridge is in the mix somewhere.

Yes he is a mystery! Thanks Ron! Do you think if I mate him to Black Australorps that I would get Extra large birds off of them? or can you think of a larger bird?

That would be fun to try. BAs make big chickens when crossed with SG Dorkings...

Thanks Ron! I am going to try it! I can hardly wait till they come out of quarantine and I have to get them NPIP tested first!

I am going to keep him and try to figure out what kind of hen to breed him to so that I can get some very large birds off of him! I have some customers that come buy just to buy my Roosters and the larger the better. What kind of hen do you think could make me extra large birds if I mate them together?

These aren't my boys, I just found them to show you. I am thinking that if you breed that pretty boy to an Aussie, they would make nice babies! And, those pullets would make nice big eggs.

I just worked a week straight and was looking forward to today off. It's the beginning of apple season here and pick your own just started. I was going to go pick some apples, start some apple-maple jam, some apple butter and then get my hive ready for winter and then go to the fair and pick up my jam. Woke up this morning to flooding here, steady rain with pockets of intense storms (we've had them for the past few days) and everything's cancelled. I did all my barn chores last night on account of having a lot of stuff to do today, and now I don't know what to do with myself!

So first things first... got some apple pancakes for breakfast made.

I don't change it too much. I use 2 vanilla beans instead of vanilla extract, and add some Penzeys baking spice to the egg mixture. Delicious.

These aren't my boys, I just found them to show you. I am thinking that if you breed that pretty boy to an Aussie, they would make nice babies! And, those pullets would make nice big eggs.

I do appreciate your help Cynthia in finding that pic. I would like a more colorful bird than the black aussie but I don't know of any other birds to try it out on right now. I am looking though. lol The extra large birds and eggs is the main goal.

I can vouch for SCGs ability to follow recipes. I have tasted some of her jam and once saw her follow a recipe and end up with a ..... was it an apron? ....... or a straight jacket?

It was an apron that morphed into a straitjacket? I was cleaning the pharmacy this past weekend and found this really long lab coat and the name on the inside was someone who hadn't worked there in 8 years. It was nice and long and long sleeved, and even had holes in the sides so you could reach into your pants pockets from outside your lab coat. I had visions of straitjackets dancing in my head. I eventually decided that I had retired from the SJ business and tossed it, but it was a sad moment.

I've moved on to making masks. I made The Hulk last night:


BF's niece and nephew are really into superheros. I made capes for Christmas, and they wanted different colored capes for their birthdays (August and September). I did the capes a few weeks back and then saw online a tutorial to make superhero masks so I've been whittling away at those. I think I posted Spiderman. I have also done Batman. However, BF says Hulk looks more like Frankenstein.
