The Old Folks Home

My 2 cents... I think all signs point to a hard winter this year. Hope it doesn't get too bad though. Worried about my chickens getting too cold. Hubby said no electricity is going out to the dog or chickens. Guess I will have to make them all some quilts lol

I was taking a break from making mom's slideshow and crying (first day in two days that I have broke down) And I got on here. And what do I find: A smile! I knew I was coming to the right place to crack a smirk! That is why I love this group so much. Oh speaking of a wipe out: I now have NO bantam hens. The cat with a thousand lives has ate them all. We still have the roo but I need replacement hens. I think I am going to go and just spend the 15-20 dollars a piece on some laying hens.

we usually get our first flakes in early October and first sticking snow in November - we've had two mild winters in a row with little snow till February and then it caught up with a vengeance. All bets are off for this year. Winter '85 our village set a state record for the coldest temp. in history - 32 that's below zero- actual temperature without any windchill figured in. Glad I had no animals to worry about then. I remember nobody moved - probably the cars wouldn't start.

Glad you have found your smile.

Personally, I would no longer have a cat after that (well I actually dont have one now). It would get similar treatment to SCG's rodents.

My kitties don't touch ANY of my creatures. Though I have seen one cat get threatened, but hold his ground. BOrn to a feral mother--guess he's a tough cat.

Even playing field with standard fowl. lol MOney well spent if it means the birds will stick around a little longer. ):

( PS you get to cry.)

Oh it is not my cat. We have shot it many a time and thought it was a gonner....but NO the thing just keeps coming back now with a missing ear and a limp.

My cat is an inside kitty with no claws and fat as a hog so he has no interest in my chickens it is the wild cat! It is driving me crazy.

(I think I don't cry often because I feel the need to step up and be strong for my family and Dad)
