CNTM - Take my advice, and have a good, long, cathartic, racked with sobs, snot blowing, red nosed, bawling cry. When you feel it slacking off, make yourself cry more. Keep at it till you can't cry anymore. It helps you to get it out and over with. Holding it in is stressful. Then in a few hours, days, weeks, etc. repeat as necessary. Don't be afraid to let your kids see you, maybe on the second or third time.

I am the rock in my family, I was strong for them during the funeral, when my mom (their grandmother) died. Later, it was good for them to watch me grieve, and be sad, and break down and cry. They learned that even a strong person can do those things and then can recover and move on. Unfortunately, that is a skill they are going to need all their lives, and how else will they learn?

I cry on my way to school. I have not cried in front of my kids because it makes them upset. I need to show them that it is ok to grieve and be sad but that is so hard for me. Thank you so much Wisher for the advice. I will for sure be taking it. I think it is hardest on my oldest son who knows what is going on. I right now am in the mode of "No 25 year old should loose their 50 year old mother" I feel mad and upset all at once. But after a good cry and prayer session I am feeling better. Ok I am done with my soap box.

Oh it is not my cat. We have shot it many a time and thought it was a gonner....but NO the thing just keeps coming back now with a missing ear and a limp.

My cat is an inside kitty with no claws and fat as a hog so he has no interest in my chickens it is the wild cat! It is driving me crazy.


(I think I don't cry often because I feel the need to step up and be strong for my family and Dad)

We had a feral cat come by. It ate 2 of my white guinea keats and Bernie's drying fish. Needless to say, it's no longer an issue

I was taking a break from making mom's slideshow and crying (first day in two days that I have broke down) And I got on here. And what do I find: A smile! I knew I was coming to the right place to crack a smirk! That is why I love this group so much. Oh speaking of a wipe out: I now have NO bantam hens. The cat with a thousand lives has ate them all. We still have the roo but I need replacement hens. I think I am going to go and just spend the 15-20 dollars a piece on some laying hens.

My 2 cents... I think all signs point to a hard winter this year. Hope it doesn't get too bad though. Worried about my chickens getting too cold. Hubby said no electricity is going out to the dog or chickens. Guess I will have to make them all some quilts lol

Or, bring everybody inside the house! {Might help hubby would change his mind about electricity to the animals?}

Replacing the cat might be more prudent.

Good Rain cool and overcast out side and wet of course. Washed the ragweed pollen down for awhile best air I've had in weeks. I have something I want you all to give me your opinion on. Wind Farms do you think they are bad for the environment noise pollution, bad effect on wildlife???? I would appreciate your honest opinion.This issue has come up out here on the prairie and I don't know any thing about it and need as much true information I can get.

Oh the live trap is set! I would not get more hens till this cat is for sure gone and I see the body!

You can take it out of the freezer and let it rest for 2 days in the fridge. I would not advocate throwing something out! You can always cook it right away after you process it and before rigor sets in. I have found, however, that I'm slow enough that rigor has always set in by the time I get done with the group. I never just do one at a time. There's also ways of cooking (Thanks, Ron!) slowly that will make even an old bird tender. We made Coq Au Vin with my old turken roo. I'm still sad about him, but he was delicious.

Reminds me of Ron White - I wasn't drunk in public until you threw me out of the bar.

Those of us up north are already thinking about winter. Don't laugh at us. The snowblowers were out at Sears at the end of August. Our predicted low tonight is 38.

Anyone want to bet on our first snowfall? Last year it was early October.

This year who knows when winter will set in?
