We don't have any traps. But last night I heard my birds at 3 am. I woke my DH up and we went to see what was going on. Nothing hens laying eggs at 3 am. lol

Ron, your crust made a heck of a calzone on The Big Green Egg. It was originally going to be a pizza but it stuck to the plate trying to slide it into the smoker. Regardless, it was delicious.

Truck broke down yesterday. Our plans for today were to go to southern Maine and get some furniture, stop at the local dairy, and stop at Cabelas (I'm looking for a specific gun that only they have in the area). BF is outside now trying to put a new battery in hoping that is it (although we jumped it yesterday and it didn't start)...

A Big Green Egg is on my list of things to get. Literally since one is in my wish list on Amazon.

We just got the egg and have used it 5 times or so and we love it.

It was a bit pricy but compared to the Webber smoker that we borrowed and the price for that, I'm glad we got the egg.

Truck is up and working with a new battery, thankfully. Guess we're back on for our trip, once he gets back from the dump.

Newer type cars and trucks are weird like that. It takes a lot of power to run all of the electronics, so often jumping will not start them. You have to have really good jumper cables.

Yesterday, John the Contractor picked me up (at 0900) in his '57 Chevy flatbed and we headed off to purchase fence materials at Double Diamond Feed & Farm Supplies. There has been a little bantam rooster in the DD yard for months, but he's gone now. Some customers used to visit just to spend time watching him. After 200 feet of six foot fence material in rolls, 7 lodge poles and 33 eight-foot T-poles were loaded on the truck, we went to HD for metal roof panels and all the accoutrement necessary to complete the coop construction. Expensive day. John said I am gonna be perceived as a "rich" Chicken Lady. There has already been some eye-rolling at the Mt. Aukum General Store when I was trying to buy the most appropriate chain to hold up the coop windows, because I said I wasn't sure "my contractor" would appreciate my choice. The owner said, "A CONTRACTOR to build a chicken coop!??!" One of the employees, when loading a big bag of BOSS into my RAV4 offered, "Hey, I do construction work on my weekends if you need somebody to build your coop..." I will most likely hire somebody other than John to put up the run, as he is 62 and - while able to heft 14 foot long 2 X 6 boards for rafters - pounding poles into the "eight acre boulder" is not something he'd really like to kill himself doing. After "we" unloaded the truck, we went to The Pub for lunch, then he dropped me off at home again. Work resumes Monday. I plan on uploading photos to post them this afternoon or evening. I wish I knew how to do it with my iPad, but I send photos taken with my ancient iPhone to my e-mail account and don't know how to upload from here. Gotta dust off the PC in the office to accomplish the task.
