The Old Folks Home

SCG our times are more in line with Ron's. Days don't start getting longer again until about a month from now. :(

Great chart, Ron!

It's good to remember the two solstices in every year: Winter, the shortest day of the year and Summer, the longest day of the year. In the Northern Hermisphere, the former is on or about December 21st and the latter is on or around June 21st.

I jubilate each Dec. 21 - the days begin to lengthen again! (Not fast enough for me.) <*tapping toes, trying to rush the Earth's axis tilt*> And each Summer Solstice heralds shorter daylight hours.

Me too!

It is the time of Earths renewal and I know that I will start getting lots of eggs soon.

Does that mean ducks need more than 20%?
Maybe not much more but animal protein for sure. If they can't get bugs, then calf mana is a more available and less expensive choice than fish meal.

A person with Ducks said his quit laying if they did not get enough and animal protein.

I periodically threw feeder goldfish into their pool for them to chase and catch, and every once in a while I treated the ducks to dry dog food. (Some of the ducks try to sneak into the house to eat the dog's kibble so I knew it would be a hit.)

Quote: You mean my lazy a-- duck hens should be laying now??? THose lazy girls quit laying long ago. And all they needed was more protein??? Good thing I love my ducks.

Fyi Linda-- if they really need protein, check out a bag of cat food. I have to admit I have tossed handfulls in to the pool too. Gone by the end of the day.
