The Old Folks Home

You know what's funny about all the viral videos on YouTube and FB postings you wouldn't want your mother to see? Many companies, police departments, and now some colleges are looking through people's public postings for information/evidence. Employers are looking to see if "you" are the kind of person who will fit in the organization, police departments are finding evidence (because people are foolish and will brag about stupid things they have done), and colleges are doing the same thing employers are. I see some of the posts from my younger extended family members and try to remind them that they may not want to post that kind of information. I may post a few personal things about myself, but I rarely post about my feelings about my work and I certainly wouldn't post a video of myself doing something outrageous or illegal (not that I do those things). Funny how "we" scream about privacy, and yet are willing to post just about anything on websites. Once information is on the web, it is considered public and you can no longer claim it is private information. I think as more and more organizations look through public social media sites to determine who you "are" as a person, the more younger folks will understand that posting everything that they do and say is maybe not such a good idea.

Rural mountain living is great. I love it, except i learned today that icy roadways sure are deceptive in their danger. I totaled my '99 Nissan Quest today. I am extremely lucky I was driving slowly and carefully - just not enough of each.

Glad you are not hurt LInda; probably sore though. Darn, that was your new car, too.

You must be thrilled!!

Scott, some of the Youtubers will do anything for any kind of attention. I keep telling my daughter, "If and when that one gets to be my age, they will look back at this and ask themselves, "what in the world was I thinking?!"
Which is why my kids don't have cell phones yet. One thing leads to another . . .

No such thing as privacy anymore . . .

. . . ahh , the benefits of becoming "an old folk"-- I would not trade this age to be 20 again, no no never!
