Wow we have been super busy. We had a perfect ending to a not so perfect year. And tho it was hard without my mom I am so lucky in many ways. My kids are happy and healthy and I got to spend my Christmas with people that love me. Merry Christmas to everyone. Even if I am a day late!!![]()
This is true, you are not supposed to feed dane puppies puppy food because it has too much calcium. Their bones grow so fast. Slower growth is better for them. Daisy didn't reack her full growth til she was two. At 150 she is over weight, but she usually is during the winter.Things probably have changed since I raised and showed dogs but at that time Irish Setters (large breed) routinely lived to 16 or 17. Mid size Irish Terriers were also long lived. All large breeds do not die young( 7 or 8). The big breeds raised with prudent feeding ,so they aren't pushed to develop size and weight before their bone structure can manage it ,tend to live years longer and some escape the worst effects for hip dysplasia.
My friend has had several Labs live to mid teens. I won't mention the ages on her cats because they have 9 lives to start with, which just isn't fair.
Thank you Ron.I find it really hard not posting tons of "not-chicken" photos.![]()

I would think that after Loring Air Force Base closed that area really is the middle of nowhere! I have fond memories of my time there. The County as the locals called it is/was astounding, the Moose had to be seen up close to be believed.
