SCG, was it frontline you used on your chickens a while back for mites? I saw some on a couple of mine and they need something. But I cannot use a powder or dust.

Thank you so much Cynthia! I will pick some up...I personally..ahem, butting in here..use the stuff you buy for indoor birds..you get from the pet shop. I have used it for this past year now. It works great! I just put a spritz on the vent area, under the wing area, back of neck area, on the side of the thigh areas, and on the front of the neck area..they can't get away after that!
So easy, and so cheap..and it works..and I eat the eggs..no waiting.

Another option is powdered sulfur . . perhaps put into their dust bath material. Long timeer, all her life chicken keeper said her mom sed powdered sulfur to contain the bugs. FIgured it was worth a try as we eat the meat and eggs . . . on line.
I have one turkey tudor from 2 summers ago that still tries to visit with her friends . . . . but they don't seem to recognize her and peck her until she is out of the turkey coop. Poor girl.Cynthia I got a Plymouth Rock from the feed store earlier this year along with some more SLW to be turkey tutors. It is the PR that likes to roost with the turkeys. Silly hen. I actually got two PR's but one died on me. Sudden chicken death was all I could figure out on that one. Ever since the other PR died the one still alive is kind of a loner so she hangs out with the turkeys at night.

By large I meant really large like the Great Danes, Mastiffs etc. Most of them seem to live less than 10 years. I have a Lab now that is in his teens. I got a Lab because the Great Danes have such short lives.
