The Old Folks Home

I have some friends that have just moved from Georgia to Layton. The have been taking some beautiful pictures I will have to tell them about this.

Hagar, mention Adams Canyon to them too. It is around the same area (Layton/Kaysville area). On my way down from the waterfall, I ran across two other gentlemen that had some nice camera gear and they recommended Adams Canyon to me (they saw my nice camera around my neck). I figure they probably have a good idea of what is great to see this time of year. :D I just checked it out on a website and while it is a longer hike than the one into Waterfall Canyon, it looks less steep. I will probably have to check it out in the coming weeks. Just have your friends Google Adams Canyon (or Waterfall Canyon) and they can get directions to the trail heads.
ETA - I highly recommend crampons for any of these hikes. I definitely was happy I had a pair on going to both of these waterfalls! :)

I have a son in GA.  He has been missing the winter scenes..especially during Christmas time..he loves the White Winter for Christmas.   He'll be back at the end of the year..next year..that's coming up real quick!

I hope he enjoys his stay. We have a little snow in North Georgia in the southern end of the Appalachians. We also have some beaches. I know you are anxious for him to get home. What part is he in? Is he in the military?

Thank you. They are both around 40 and they have been enjoying the hiking. So the hiking is good for them. I will tell about these. They are just getting into their house so they haven't seen much yet. They have two tween aged girls so everyone has been excited anout the snow. They also can't say enough about the nice people up there.

He has been in the southern part, then up to the north part. He was in Americus, then Kennesaw, and now Powder Springs. He is serving a mission there for our church. :)

Great, I am about 30 miles northeast of Americus. I have lived in the Kennesaw/Powder Springs area also.

I used to live in Florida years ago. All I know is that when we went through GA. on our way to VA..it was a beautiful state. He has sent some beautiful photos home. He says, mom, it's like going up our canyons at home in Utah, only you don't have to drive .. UP..to see the trees. There are woods everywhere. He also loves the birds there. I had told him about the Red Cardinals. He was so excited when he first saw one. And, the lightening bugs. :)

We have chickage!
:weee
Sparkle is a surrogate mother again! One of the two eggs has hatched. She was clucking and poking her head under her body, then a little head poked out from her feathers. It cheeped a bit, then snuggled back into Sparkle's feathers.
:love

She hatched this chick early; I was anticipating watching her and the Tournament of Roses Parade tomorrow morning as the eggs hatched.
