The Old Folks Home

I went to lovely Portland today, which was 20 degrees warmer than central Maine. Apparently 20 degrees is the new temperature at which I have to take off my jacket or sweat. Came home to find my showgirl's butt covered in poo and goo and other unmentionables and her huddled under the nest boxes. Brought her inside, performed a poo- and goo-ectomy on her bottom and then... I blow dried a chickens butt. I had lovely photos of Cape Elizabeth/Portland Head Lighthouse with the frozen ocean spray on the rocks to share... but I just spent the past hour doing the above and now my treadmill calls.
20f balmy!!! I can't wait to see the pics. I hope you collect molt feathers to make a boa for your showgirl to wear in this weather

THAT day I spend in front of the TV!! THe greatest 2 minutes in sports!! Visited Louisville once, even picked the winner but hadn't placed a bet. Darn!! Even got to see Secretariate live and in person!!
I am officially envious LOL. Every year they play the video of him winning the Belmont, and the stretch run makes me weep each and every time. One of the greatest performances of all time.

Several years ago I picked Big Brown but did not place a bet. A coworker did and was very pleased I had mentioned him to her. This year I picked Mucho Macho Man to win the Breeders' Cup and again had not placed a bet. Didn't matter, I had been following him since the Derby preps the year he ran in the Triple Crown races, and I was so pleased to see him win this race. Great story, great trainer, first woman trainer to ever win the Breeders' Cup Classic.

It's one of my favorite places to go. Whenever I pick up people at the airport we go around the corner from here and have a lobster, then drive up the coast and stop at a few lighthouses, including this one. It never gets old to see it.

And I was surprised that it was busy today... plenty of people at the park.

cool

so we have the first day planned when mrs oz and i come knocking.

Suddenly suffering from a case of deja-vu. Decades ago, my parents gave me a paint-by-number set that had lighthouses as the subjects. I swear, I think this lighthouse was one of them.

That is very likely. This is the one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. I have been to most of the lighthouses in Maine that are public and on the mainland, but I just keep coming back to this one and Bug Light.

Not a problem. Bring the bambinos, too. I don't bite.
