NPR plays classical during the almost-noon time slot. I'm a total news junkie, though, so NPR fills that need for me (I still read the news every morning, afternoon and evening, though, even if I get an NPR mid-day fix).

I even got BF into Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me yesterday on our way home from Freeport. Guest Tom Bodett really heightened his interest. He told me I should call in so we can get Tom's voice on our voicemail and a joke about not leaving the light on. I didn't want to tell him the winner didn't get Tom's voice.
 
I LOVE it! I am not a metal head but I did date a guy that was a huge KISS fan. He took me to one of their concerts and it was great! I like lots of types of music, as well. I grew up on bluegrass. I mean good ol' backwoods, country bluegrass (Bill Monroe, Osborne Brothers, Flatt and Scruggs, etc.) They were my favorites in my pre-teen to teen years, which was hard to explain to my friends. "Let's listen to your records!" "You don't want to listen to my records." "Why?" "Because I like bluegrass." "Come on, let's listen" So I put on my favorite, and after one song, "Yeah, let's listen to the radio."

I also like pop since I was 2 or 3 years old (which is now 'The Oldies' and even like some of the 40's and 50's music that Mom listened to when I was a kid. Don Ho, Tiny Bubbles, Lawrence Welk, Andrew Sisters. Mind you, this is not my generation. I was born in '62 and grew up during the "60's and 70's. My first concert was Kansas and I only got to go after my Dad heard "Dust in the Wind" on the radio and thought that was the kind of music they played all the time. I like that, as well, but I have always kept an open mind and just listened to the music before deciding. I can even enjoy some classical, though I have had little exposure to it. My boys, and their friends have introduced me to some of the current music that I like (and some that I don't) especially "Fire Flies" (Owl City?) and one of my all time favorites, "Some Nights" by fun.

My younger sister liked KISS-- sch crazy costumes-- so memorable. Saw what-his name- on TV the other day-- so hard to imagine him as a member of KISS. Gene simmons.

Classic rock is the 1970's for me maybe into the early 80's.

One and only concert was Alabama. A family affair with tons of young kids, and I had the best seat in the house: almost 90 degrees to the stage, and only 50 feet away. All for $5.

If you heard Wait Wait this past weekend then surely you heard Tom talk about his wife telling him that just because she didn't laugh, didn't mean she didn't get the joke :)

Been to a Kansas concert myself (my first also), Saw Al Jarreau once, Todd Rundgren, Bonnie Raitt, and Robert Cray twice each, and once in college (the first time) I got talked into going with my roommates to a Barry Manilow concert, and let me tell you, that guy is a born entertainer, he put on one heck of a show.

DH's parents were both music teachers at U of H. (Go Coogs!) and every member of his family plays an instrument and were in band at school. DH plays trombone and was in the marching band. He is a huge fan of both classical and musicals. The Music Man makes him cry. He's always whistling something from a musical when he's working outside. His cousin is on the drumline for the Seahawks.
