The Old Folks Home

Oh Kingfrodo I can so empathize with you. The home we bought in 2008 seemed just perfect for us. The inside of the house was kept up as yours was but the land was just let go. We spent 4 weekends 12 to 15 hours a day just cleaning out one huge building. I think we hauled out 4 pickup loads of sawdust alone!

Of course it had walnut & cedar in it so it was no good to us at all. I can't even remember all the junk we hauled out of there and virtually none of it was useful for anything. The hayloft of the horsebarn was full of rotten hay, dead racoons, some rotted windows, and about 20 aluminum storm windows that no one wants. We are still beating back the brush that grew everywhere but it is really starting to look up now. I found tons of native flowers here and some not so native flowers. Just keep plugging away and you will get there.

Here are a couple of shots after clean up. These were taken last spring. When we bought it the grass was over 4 feet high. It took forever to knock that down. As you can see we couldn't get a tractor and mower in to most of it to take it down. You cannot see the house from the road especially when the trees get all leafed out.

Oh I love it! Thanks for the words of encouragement. I know it will be great when we're done. Yours looks fabulous! It's nice to hear that someone else has done something crazy like this. Most of my friends think I've lost my mind.

One of our DIL works a a Vet's office and she posted a pic of this adorable puppy this morning and said that some one was driving down the street yesterday and threw this baby out the window and she landed on her head. The person behind the @$@ stopped and picked her up and took her to the Vet to get her checked out and to find her a home.
Well as soon as I saw her I called and told our DIL that we wanted her. We now have her at home with us. She is only 6 weeks old!

She is so sweet!
HOW SICK!!!!

how can someone be such an animal as to be so cruel to something so innocent? Any more expression of what I am thinking would get me thrown off here.
Good for you for loving this baby and how blessed she is to be in your loving hands now

I really need to quit opening up a reply screen and waiting forever to type and send...it's like I'm having delayed reactions to everything you guys are saying :p

Oz, I have the same problem at Costco. I'm not allowed to go alone anymore.

That is one cute puppy. Holy moly.
