Seeing as we are looking out the window at a snowstorm so thick you can't see 20 yards..and 5 new inches of snow..I am looking for any sign of Spring..what have you got planted?

They are on my list but can't add them this year, I have more projects to work on than time and resources (including energy) right now.
I just scored a nice heavy plywood box - framed with actual 2x4s - that I'm making into a small coop for a pair of Cochins I'm borrowing back from a friend to hatch some pure Cochins, I have some juvenile Legbars that will be needing their own housing very soon, and I'm adding a pair of Ameraucanas I'm very excited about from a fellow Coloradan which I do already have housing for, but it isn't great housing and I'd like to have them better situated before next winter. I would also like to build a cockerel grow-out area away from the other birds, and add a couple of juvenile pens.
I am very interested in the Spanish breeds, though, and ChickenCanoe's excellent story about the day he received his first shipment of Pene chicks will live in my memory forever. That was an outstanding read![]()
Whine....oops sorry I should not be jealous or whine because in the high summer here we have 78 and love it..It will just take awhile to get here. Love that you get to plant @ this time of the year. It is 72 now and I had to mow the lawn! The Chooks are happily munching down on the clippings now.
These are a few pics of my outside run and a small peek inside the greenhouse. The young girls like to play in their 'baby coop' but have free run of the greenhouse if they want..just now they are both in the little coop. the big girls have been covered on 3 side for wind, rain and snow protection. they have access to a 'sun yard' at the end of the run but don't use it much..they don't like to get wet..lol or snowed on. Now that they are all the same size I plan on putting them all out into the big run. I cannot wait to get my greenhouse back to start planting. There is Percy the fierce looking out of her little coop..lol
