The Old Folks Home

ChickenCanoe, I have the same problem with the font size and color, etc. it disappears in the blink of an eye. I thought my old reflexes were just too slow- it's good to know someone else has the same thing. Just didn't want to be complaining yet again!

What goes on here? And the reply boxes are enormous, so lots of scrolling to get down to hit submit. My fingers are exhausted.

Ron and the rest of the Californians here, I heard on the weather report this morning that California is due for more rain Wednesday and Friday this week - not enough to overcome drought, but "several inches" - here's hoping for you!

ChickenCanoe hardly anything works on this site when I access it from work so I'll look when I get home if no one else has been able to diagnose the problem by then, did you say once you are using Firefox? Or have I mis-remembered that? I only ask because I use Firefox from home unless I absolutely cannot get something to work because it's written only for Internet Explorer.

Yes!

It will help. Hopefully the other news about El Nino for next year will happen and we will have a wet winter next year.

It is still going to be bad this year. Almonds are being removed now. One Farmer removed 20% of his. Since it takes years to get them producing again, we may have shortages for years to come. California is the leading producer of nuts in the World.

Vice Versa.
Thanks, I switched to firefox and now the buttons work.

Quote: Heard this morning on national news that 3 storms are lined upto hit CA and bring much needed rain. Maybe a little at a time will improve the situation; sure better than one big down pour.

THe frustration of crops that take many years to mature is the long time to recover the numbers in the production lineup. Due to dought in 2012, the mid-west decreased the cattle population significantly-- THe beef prices are up because of that issue and the increase in grain prices. (I sure don't eat beef like I used to). The drought was so bad, they were trucking hay from the northeast, something never done before, and that sharply increased the prices of hay here. Which has not gone down since!

Earlier news reported many CA farmers are not planting as much acreage because of the lack of irrigation water. Love that CA is able to provide so much food to the rest of the US, but I am rethinking what my own bit of land can provide.

Until then, praying for a few small rain storms to reduce the drought situation in CA.

Bunny wish that pony party had happened, it sounded like it would have been a good time.
I escaped out of the house for a few hours with DH to get photos of the sunrise yesterday. He talked me into going to the Salt Lake marina and I think the shots came out pretty good.

Beautiful pictures! thank you for sharing!
