what a scary story - too many people are unnoticed. She was very lucky to have neighbors like you and your husband.
I find myself thinking before I do things now - I'm impulsive. I used to love shoveling snow in the middle of the night because it was so peaceful. Now I don't. If I fall or have a cardiac episode or ??
none of the neighbors would even notice. WE only have a couple of street lights, far apart so it's dark as pitch in most places.
You are right about the fact that old people shouldn't run. Every time the stoplight changed with me in the middle I've run - the drivers will not yield- and when I reach the other side, I have fallen 3 times - the sudden running makes me dizzy. If I fell in the street - everybody on their cell phones would leave tire marks on my mangled body.
Now I am the oldie who waits at the corner forever. I won't cross unless the light' just changes' as I approach. I can't start any later or I'll never make it across 6 lanes of traffic. Pedestrians get NO Respect. Plus I think they get more points if they bag a senior.![]()

You get the most points if you bag a Jay Walker talking on a cell phone paying no attention.
