The Old Folks Home

I hate that anticipatory text stuff.

Daughter just sent a text that she made it safely to Phong Nha Ke Bang national park in Vietnam after a 6 hour ride on her new motorbike. She said she was so done with busses. Her last bus ride was 18 hours, UGH!
She's going caving today. They just discovered the worlds largest cave in that national park
The Karst region is Asia's oldest with 65 km. of caves and underground rivers extending all the way to the Laotian border.

Canoe-your daughter sounds like she is having a wonderful time!!

It was really cold last night! Down to 32, and supposed to be colder tonight! Boo x2 on its going down to 69! :) Though I'm still enjoying the cool, not cold mornings. I don't enjoy camping in the horrible heat either. The roommates and my BF and I are coordinating a summer camping trip to a bay in Florida. We're going as early in the summer as possible to avoid the heat, but it won't be until June until we can go. The bay were going to stay in is shady and cool, so I think we'll be ok, and if it's too hot, I'll just jump in the water! I'm really excited, it's been too long since I've seen the beach! The best part? We can walk a mile across the peninsula and go play in the waves on the beach!

If you can't go early try it late September to mid November. The weather is usually nice down there at that time.

That would be great, but one if my roommates is aa teacher, so she's off all summer. We were trying to coordinate it so she can come too! But yeah, that's a really good idea! Thank you for the suggestion.

I can't deal with a lot of people. We always camp during the off season or on weekdays. We like going to a campground nearby so that we can check on the animals. Next to the Nolichucky river usually. DH is learning to fly fish. He's not that good at it yet but this winter he ordered books and videos and has been driving us crazy with them. With his hobbies and my new obsession with chickens we have been keeping UPS busy this year.

I agree! I don't do side by side by side camping! Don't really like the RV's but when it's really hot, they're nice to escape to. My BF is into fly fishing, don't know how much he did, but for our first Christmas together,I tied him a set of six flies :) it took a long time and a few tries, but I was kinda proud! Even his dad,a long time fisher, said they looked professional

What a great present.

Except for the long bus rides, she's having a blast. She really knows her way around. I'm proud of her but I was still shocked on the motor scooter purchase.
She said for the bike, a new oil change, a new helmet and a luggage rack, it was $240. She thinks she can sell it in Hanoi for $350 before she flies to Thailand.
