The Old Folks Home

Mine and the 5 counties surrounding me make up the largest peanut producing place on earth. We have an annual peanut festival which is kind of a big deal.

I like planting a lot of different things too.
This year's tomatoes will be:
Heirlooms
Giant Belgium
Oaxacan Jewel
Amana Orange
Amish Paste
Aunt Ruby's German Giant
Beefsteak
Black Krim
Cherokee Purple
Garden Peach

Vintage Wine
White Beauty

Hybrid
Scarlet Red

Bell peppers
Chocolate Beauty
Golden California Wonder

Hot chilis
Long Red Cayenne
Serrano
Poblano
Habanero
Tam Jalapeno

also Green Tomatillos

Trouble is, the yard, garden and chicken runs are pretty much a big lake right now. It doesn't look like anything terrestrial plants can grow in.

Guy you should tray bulls Heart tomato as well. great for sauces. huge and all meat
Poblanos are the best.

Here it's hot and dry and I can usually grow a mean hot pepper. Never tried Tomatillos though, are they similar to tomatoes to grow?

i have not planted the peanuts yet. I feel intimidated by them lol
mortgage lifter is a good one. Is Hawaiian Pineapple the same as Pineapple? I love a big slice on a tuna sandwich

peanuts grow well in the phils but none of us have planted them.

it seems they like to grow where peanuts have grown before.

I have 4 cubic yards of compost cooking so i will have another hundred linear feet of garden in june in time for the wet season. I am amending the soil with six inches of compost and will repeat with every new planting season.

I wish I had access to about 100 railway ties. I love the look of raised beds with railway ties. I dont want to kill trees for such a whim. When I am there I search for alternatives. I have 8 yards of large river rock coming in ten days.

I need to find some granite
Granite would last, I have always wanted to try Hay bails as well. As a one season thing.

Hawaiian pinaple is a tomato!! LOL - I chose it vecause it grows in the tropics.

I included mostly high heat and tropical varieties but a couple of bigger tomatoes as well. Its worth a shot

I dont have access to hay bales or a baler. none in the tropics

You must be near Dothan, AL. If I recall correctly something like 80% of all the peanuts grown in the US are grown within 100 miles Dothan. It also has the highest number of chain restaurants per capita of any city in the US. I have also heard that there is a really good Indian restaurant there.
