The Old Folks Home

Quote: That sounds amazing. It's interesting how much the typical breakfast varies from country to country. The French and other Middle-Europeans have their pastries, Brits have the English breakfast, and in Finland breakfast is usually sandwiches, with some ham, cheese and veggies on top. Rye bread is pretty common (the real kind made with mainly rye), and sometimes perhaps a boiled egg. Kids eat cereal, and muesli is pretty popular too. And porridge, usually made with oatmeal.
That is different what is porridge? I have heard of it and never knew what it was. My DH is a true southern gentleman and he likes a big southern breakfast on the weekends biscuits and sausage or bacon, eggs, grits or hash brown's or fried potatoes with onions and bell peppers. I have introduced him to some Calif. style cooking and some he likes and some he don't. I do not like a big greasy breakfast so I fix what he want's and then later I eat some toast and fruit or cereal. :)
Maybe you just call it oatmeal? Basically, oatmeal cooked in water or milk, with some salt added. You can use different grains too, and eat it with jam, jelly, fruits, berries, butter, honey, milk, cream, raisin, apples or whatever else you can think of.
Thank you. I love oatmeal and I like it with fruit or cinnamon and sugar.

Our roo confronted one of the labs today. He was all "Yeah, get away, I'm a tough guy!". Then she inched forward a bit, and sniffed him. That sent him running away terrified.

That must have scared you pretty badly. Kids can react so differently to what they see.

I'm so sorry. I never would have thought that anyone would have gotten that out of the movie. Like Vehve said, we all take away something different from each experience. I must have watched that movie 600 times as a child and the hanging part never stuck out to me.

I've never seen a goat with polka dots! How cute! : )

Wow, blast from the past. That polka dotted goat, Augustina, died over a year ago.

Lacy that is what I meant when I said thank God. Sorry I I should have just said it, but some people are very touch about the word "GOD". I believe in God and we are Christian's. Yes To God be the glory for saving your son!

As an athiest, and I don't speak for all of them, getting offended or touchy over the use of words is just silly, in my opinion. I know that most people believe in some type of a deity so for me to get offended is irrational. I will absolutely respect and defend your right to believe whatever you want (but I expect the same courtesy). Even if we were all to become completely non-verbal there would still be "the wrong looks" to offend people. If we try to not easily take offense and to not easily offend we'd all be a lot better off.

Now how did I get up on this soapbox?

That's funny. My dog runs up and down the fence line trying to play with the roosters and they chase her up and down the fence line. It's all good entertainment for them....

My turkeys and youngsters do not think they should play with a dog. They are no fun!

That's what I love about our thread, there's room for everybody, as long as each is respectful of the other (although I'm having to bite my cheek to keep from teasing SCG just a little.....) We have a healthy mix of Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Agnostic.....it's good to believe in something, even if it's not the same as someone else's belief.

We all think WE are the one that's right, but obviously some of you aren't.

My DD said to my once, "You think you're right about everything!" I said, "Of course I do, if I thought I was wrong, I'd change my mind......duh."

Seriously, if we were all alike, it would be B_O_R_I_N_G!!!

20,000 push ups?! If I started now, I might make 100 before the 20,00th post or before I passed out.
