The Old Folks Home

... In the mean time, the "news" in it's ever loving search for ratings over truth is reporting on everything whether they have fact checked it or not which usually feeds the flames in this type of situation....
Just an outcome of 24 hour news. I long for the days of the 6 PM and 10 PM news cycle and real journalism rather than pundit/talking heads.

They continue to give the pundits air time even after they've been wrong over and over. I'd love a gig like that where it doesn't matter what I think, know or say and still get paid.

Ouch that does look painful. I know rubber bullets are "non-lethal" but I didn't imagine they would leave such a huge bruise. Wow, I hope things really calm down. The situation is turning into some kind of frenzy and no one is benefiting from it but the looters.

It's only going to get more interesting. People are coming from all over the region to participate in the looting.

Meanwhile, a private autopsy ordered by the family conclusively shows that the witness statements that Mr. Brown was shot in the back are not true.

Meanwhile, once again Al Sharpton is staying in Ferguson and NOT going to Chicago to lead protests about all of the Black people murdered there over the weekend.

None of the witnesses I heard said he was shot in the back. They said he was facing the officer with his hands up after running about 20 feet away.

The three disparate witnesses stories were all corroborated by the re-autopsy. At least that is what the forensic scientist said.

I do not envy the job of our police forces.

I was living withing the area of violence during the Rodney King / LA riots

Most of the mayhem was caused by opportunists looking for an excuse.

I live south of Oakland. The city is a joke. Mayor Jean Quan marches with the protestors and doesn't want anything done that might interfere with her receiving the thug vote. Businesses have simply stopped reopening downtown; they are either driven out of business because of the expense of riot recovery, or they simply move after vandalism and looting. The city has become an absolute magnet for every lunatic with a cause. The most recent protest march was about Ferguson, MO, demanding immigration amnesty and an accelerated path to citizenship for illegal aliens, blocking the unloading of an Israeli ship by those protesting Israeli atrocities, and I think maybe there was another issue or two.

I am always surprise by how in Oakland any protest is rapidly swollen by people with unrelated causes who come to join in the fun.

It has reached the point where the largest recent protest went all the way to Berkeley as it seems there isn't much left to loot in Oakland - and subsequent protests that have announced they are NOT leaving Oakland have been markedly smaller. Like I said earlier, no one is particularly interested in looting Goodwill.
