The Old Folks Home

Welcome back SCG! How did the roof turn out? Any more incidents involving roofers and chickens?

Thanks for the warm welcome backs.

The roof looks okay, I don't like what it looks like over the skylights, but it is what it is. With the biblical rains we've been having THE ROOF IS NOT LEAKING!!! And that's what counts.

The painters (that started right after the roofers) doing the inside of my house are loving the farm. They spend more time outside feeding, petting, watching than inside painting. Thankfully I am paying them by the job, not by the time. The painters don't eat all their lunch so they can throw it to the chickens and watch them devour it.

I got most of the outside chores done today before the rain started again. Got the garlic planted, winter reflectors put up, duck house winterized, put the goat feeders back up that they ripped out of the wall, cut some wood up...

I'm here, Bama, just later than usual. I had an interesting day. I woke up at 3:30am to drive to Henagar, Alabama to purchase a LGD. I got this little cutie.....er.......I mean this ferocious beast to one day protect the flock. We stopped on the way home to bathe him at Petco's self bath because he was covered in fleas. He's all clean, flea free, and fluffy now, though. He is Anatolian, Akbash, and Great Pyrenees in his background. He should be a good guardian when he is about two. We have an appointment for shots, worming, and such on Monday morning.

Then, about 10:00pm, I was going out to check on him when I noticed a 'possum in the chicken coop. I yelled for someone to bring a gun, while I held it in the beam of my flashlight and stood by with a big stick to club it if it tried to run. It didn't run and DH ran out and shot it...twice. We looked and looked and have yet to find how it got into the coop, One thing I know for sure, though, it won't get in again.
.....lets name wishers new puppy for her
