This is the pup and his momma just before the trip home. He sure hadn't forgotten where the dinner comes from! Mom was looking at me like she appreciated the fact that I was taking the last one so she didn't have to deal with them anymore. This was pre-bath.

This is a comparison pic. The other dog is our 12 pound Jack Russel/daschund housedog, Paisley. They are the same size......for now.

He enjoys getting between my feet. I think he feels secure there.

I think Biscuit is going to stick. I wanted something more manly, but the guys all like Biscuit.:/

I did try to see what was up last week and was told she was on a trip. That is a very long trip indeed.

That's the best kind.

And I have the two nest boxes, but they are big for bantams, so I am thinking that 2 can maybe fit in one box....but we will see. I like the way the nest boxes turned out. The upper one has two open sides, with a lip to hold in the hay. The bottom one is much darker, with only one small opening. Now I forget how big they are..... I think just over 12 inches deep and 18 inches wide. The bottom one 10.5 inches tall, and the upper one is taller, maybe 12 inches.

Here's a LF Orp and JG sharing a 12X13 nest. Once there were 3 hens in it.

I'm here, Bama, just later than usual. I had an interesting day. I woke up at 3:30am to drive to Henagar, Alabama to purchase a LGD. I got this little cutie.....er.......I mean this ferocious beast to one day protect the flock. We stopped on the way home to bathe him at Petco's self bath because he was covered in fleas. He's all clean, flea free, and fluffy now, though. He is Anatolian, Akbash, and Great Pyrenees in his background. He should be a good guardian when he is about two. We have an appointment for shots, worming, and such on Monday morning.

Three years is long? I'd say that's a sane amount of time to wait... I can't understand people who get married after three months or something. Better to get to know the person. Coming up on ten years with the better half now, still living a life of sin.

A female roommate of mine went on a date with a guy she just met, on their second date he asked her to marry him. Crazy. After much deliberation, she said yes.
It didn't last long. Go figure.

The thing I hate most in in print and on TV is the ads that proclaim "Clinically proven." BS proven of what - they don't tell you the truth. "totally a waste of your money."

Notable is that most of those snake oil ads are late night infomercials.

I love US drug commercials. First it tells you about the drug in 10 seconds, and then spends 20 seconds listing side effects like the person talking would be on speed. Here I think the only requirement is to have a text saying "Consult your doctor before use" or something similar... It's enough to pack a sheet listing the side effects with the medicine itself. So you just get the lovely illustrations of how the antacid turns the evil red triangles in you stomach into friendly green balls (luckily the commercials have evolved a bit from that).

Don't forget anal seepage. How bad could your fibromyalgia be to trade it for that.
I especially hate the ED ads. Weird explaining that to a young girl.

I actually got it completely finished yesterday!!!!!

So happy, I think that I should get a parade, and then a fancy "open coop" party (with other people doing all of the work

Anyway, after several times of rooting through all of the construction trash at the dump, and coming up without one, I begged on Facebook for a free 2x4. Someone had one, a bit rotten, but more than good enough for a perch.

The coop is gorgeous in my eyes....but I am sure the rest of the world thinks it looks like a junk pile.

I set up a double perch on the one poop tray, each about 6.5 feet. Plenty of space for about 13 bantams. The coop is about 5.5 by 6.5. I had wanted to put in multi levels, to help with the slightly small coop...but we just got so worn out....so that it currently has just the single poop tray.

I might look at it a bit more over the next couple of weeks, see if I can put in any more play spots or levels.

Stupid dog charged the fence, trying to get at the chickens, and the fence held perfectly... So the coop does qualify as functional.

We must have injured one rooster's foot in the transfer of chickens...

i mean, really????? Anyway, he is limping, but not crying. So, not sure if it is a break or a sprain, or a gonna heal on its own whatever. I have two cockerels in that breed, so, not a big loss, since one of those boys needs to be eaten.... I think the damaged one is smaller (which is good, these are bantams), and has better color, and a better crow. The undamaged has a much better tail....and how about we pretend that Mr. undamaged is gonna have the best personality? Yep, lets go with that.

Congrats on finishing the coop to your satisfaction.
My remaining rooster is limping too. The foot he's favoring seems to be a bit swollen. I'm going out now to pluck him off the roost and cage him with a comfy floor. I'll look him over when the sun's fully up to see what I have to do. Hopefully if it's the start of bumblefoot, I'll catch it in time.

Let us know how well the de-crowing works, I understand they will still crow but softer! A friend, years ago , had to get rid of his rooster buddy and as a last hope, the vet tried to de-crow him. Sadly the roo died. But if they are getting better at the procedure, maybe he could chance having a roo again.

I've heard the survival rate isn't great. Probably depends on the vet.
I had 12 roosters here crowing at the same time. A couple close neighbors had no complaints. Good neighbors.

I just got in to the USA tonight. Two great months in the Philippine.

They have multiplied but not to sellable levels.

I hope to get a doz eggs from java next year though

Your next project will be taking eggs the other direction. That might be tougher paperwork wise though.

First marriage I dated the guy for a year and was engaged for nine months and married for 11+ years. The last year or so+ was dreadful.
Second marriage I was engaged after three months and married (thus far and hopefully till death do us part) 16 years. Friends that read me the Riot Act have since asked for seconds of humble pie as No. 2 is as solid as they come.

IMHO after your firsr go-round you figure out what you will or will not compromise for, make better choices, and get married for all the right reasons.

Peep, once you're older and wiser it's easier to know what you want. But I'm a bit worried when people get married at 18 or 19, that is a bit too quick in my opinion.
